Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket

I assume GM went with the bellcrank assembly to change the pedal ratio to one better suited to power brakes.

Yes you will have to remove the bolts attaching the pedal bracket to the firewall since my booster brackets use all of those attachment points just as GM designed it to be. This is a very important criteria that many people overlook or don't seem to care about. Automotive brakes is not a place to cut corners.

If you connect the pushrod to the original manual brake pushrod hole in your brake pedal arm, your brakes may be touchy. If so, just drill another hole in the brake pedal arm 1" lower and try that.

Hey John,
I have a few questions.
First, What is the reason GM used the longer bracket with the pivot or linkage?
Second, To use your bracket I will need to remove the bolts that go through the brake pedal assembly that go through the fire wall?
Third, How does the direct push rod to the brake pedal affect the braking or the feel when braking?

Thanks Scott

Hello, Going to the junkyard to gather the rest of my parts for my 65 C20 disk brake swap from a 78 C20. Will the booster and master cylinder work with your bracket? Or should I get a 88-98 1/2T booster and use the 78 master cylinder. Thank you for all the help you provide to everyone!!

Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket

None of the '73-'87 boosters are compatible with any of my booster brackets. They have the factory mounting brackets welded to them. That is why they are not on the list of compatible boosters. Yes you can use your '78 master cylinder as long as you use a booster that has the same length intermediate pushrod as the '78 booster. It should be the short one, but I would suggest checking.

I am not that familiar with the P series vans' firewall. Can you post a pic either here or email to captainfab454@hotmail.com ? You might be able to use a booster and master from either an Astro/Safari or full size G series van.

Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket

Well for starters, that has the hydraulic clutch as the '60-'62 Chevy's and '60-'63 GMC's do. So you would need my '60-'62 booster bracket to start with. Is that some sort of brace I see directly in front of the master cylinder? There are a couple of P series vans here on the forum in the '60-'66 projects and builds section. I do not remember what they used for a booster/master assembly

Hey Captain,

I am kinda new to this site. I just picked up a 63 Suburban.

I will be installing front and rear Wilwood disks on a new chassis along with a Caddy 472/TH400 combo to replace the stock 6 cylinder.

Attached is a photo of my current firewall/MC, I just want to verify that I am ordering the correct MC adapter of yours.

Also, do I just PayPal you for it? I apologize if you have all this info in this thread, but I'm going through 17 pages and trying to work!!!

* And one more "Also" - Do I need to lengthen the pushrod for the install?

EDIT: I just saw your email address and sent you an email also.

Thanks for your time, Eric.

Here are a couple pics that are more up to date than in post #1. The price is Exactly the same as in post #1. The only options available are satin black powder coating or if you need the hydraulic clutch conversion.
