little progress
found a donor roof, bonus was it had a good windshield


got inner roof out and set aside, not a bad job, just alot of spotweld cutting

of course, mouse nest in there

On my 61 it sat in a field for 35 years when the windshield was pulled out the roof was so rusted it looked like a "waterfall" of mice turds falling out.

lol, no mice in this one when i took it apart, truck was outside, we just had a real cold weekend on Martin Luther King Day Weekend, so im guessing they relocated, did'nt smell like mice piss either
this one , the outer roof is usable except for a weird crease in the corner, the rust is surface, ill probably get a new outer roof plus the outer windshield piece is good also

More progress got the inner roof off the good cab and got the outer roof front panel off the donor

Ok.
Has anyone replaced their inner roof.
Where it slides into the a pillar at the front is a pain
Thinking about bracing side to side and cutting the front windshield panel out
Then
Might be able to flex panel to fit in the pillars

Any suggestions

I haven't done an inner, but am currently doing my outer skin. Have you tried installing it from inside the cab, going up.

If you haven't done it yet, prep it for paint, before you install it. Much easier now, than once it's in the vehicle. And, you have to work above your head.

Just got the outer part of the inner roof cleaned up and sprayed some rust converter on it. Probably spray some color on it before I try

I would have replaced my inner roof if there was a 60-63 offered. I had to buy a 64-66 front patch to cut up to fix mine

Ok
to anyone replacing their inner roof, a couple tips

get your panel inside the cab, slide it up and in at the back first, then with a little cussing and some beverages, slide into the a pillars
the A Pillars are the hard part, but it will work, lots of shifting to get it to slide into grooves and match the outer front roof panel line

Good Luck

The outer roof and front panel should be easier from here, probably use panel bond on the outer roof , definately weld the outer front panel and inner roof

Everything helped, the spot weld cutters were a great tool

i decided to not use the front outer roof panel, after cutting it out and some hammer and dolly work, there is alot of holes to fill or close

bought a new piece, saved quite a bit of money buying the donor roof to make a new panel more worth it

ill upload more pictures as i go

I bought a new panel for above the windshield and it was actually too narrow by 3/8" or so. I've heard other say the same thing. I cut it in half and added a strip. Great quality sheet metal parts....

ok, new issue

the inner panel fits ok, but heres the issue, if i make it fit at the windshield pinch weld, which i think is the most important,
it lifts up at the back

I could use it this way but the seam on the inner side panel door is off slightly
i can make it fit very well at the back except for the corner pockets, off slightly

can anyone kinda take a look at theirs to see if they were just made this way, maybe im being too picky

ill try to get pictures today, if anyone has a couple pictures of theirs ,A pillars also, that would help
im figuring the weatherstripping will cover up almost all of this anyway

All I have is a 61 and 62 so the A pillars are different. Take a picture of your problem and it might help getting a response

ok
figured it out
to anyone doing the inner roof,
split the difference at the A pillars to get them close
the other seams are pretty much the way they are
you can adjust the back roof for a cleaner transation by moving the inner roof up or down at several points and clamping

i got to the point that, its not going to fit perfect , so get it as close as you can

ive taken the inner roof out after these pictures and scuffed and primed it
the outside towards the outer roof as well as the roof frame , i wire wheeled and sprayed with eastwood rust stuff as well as down the backside as well as i could
