Re: Big Brakes with OE Rotors and OE Brembo 4 piston calipers
Well this concept went over like a turd in the punch bowl now didn’t it?
|
Re: Big Brakes with OE Rotors and OE Brembo 4 piston calipers
The concept is good, just need somebody to make (reasonably affordable) bits to convert. Plus, you will need to be ready to shell out for larger wheels & tires to fit over the new brakes. So as much as most people probably would want to do a big brake upgrade, the buy-in to do so will take a lot of budget commitment, and would make it a no-go anyway for those of us that want to retain the stock wheels.

Would like to know if anything ever got cooking with this it seems like a great idea.

I’m interested too but came across this in my searching...

PLUS the cost of machining out the hub bore if you don't get SRT8 parts. PLUS the cost of re-drilling the 5x5 bolt pattern in the rotors if you don't get SRT8 parts. PLUS wheels big enough to clear the new Brembos. PLUS tires for those new wheels. These kits have been out there for a while. KORE3 has similar. CPP has a new spindle that adapts these brakes. Multiple options out there. |
Re: Big Brakes with OE Rotors and OE Brembo 4 piston calipers
If anyone is looking into doing this, your first stop should be with CPP and buying there x10 drop spindles/hub setup. That is the best bang for the buck.

Using a modified GM truck spindle w/a machined truck hub + an adapter bracket can be a good thing as you can maintain or replace your bearings as needed for much less. |

My plan is to run first gen SRT8 Cherokee rotors and Chevy style Brembos. I already have everything, just waiting for time. |

Maybe so..........................

CPP...wouldn't let those guys put air in my tires. Kore3 only way to fly Tobin is hands down best guy for this. 14" rotors and Z06 6 piston calipers on '87 C10 modified OEM GM spindles...beer is for size reference and good times after parts that fit! https://i.imgur.com/2iQVoig.jpg?1 |
Re: Big Brakes with OE Rotors and OE Brembo 4 piston calipers
is that the vette rotor?

Re: Big Brakes with OE Rotors and OE Brembo 4 piston calipers
Looks like a C6Z rotor

Tobin will sell you just the hubs if you want to go your own way in truck or pass car bolt pattern. http://www.kore3.com/products.php?cat=14 |

Ok , so I've been fooling around with this idea for all this year, so I tried it. I got the cpp modular drop spindles, and kor3 billet hubs, I got 4 brembo piston calipers off a 15 camaro ss. Rotors of a 18- up grand cherokee srt8 380mm rotors, had the inside of rotor milled out to fit the kor3 hubs, measured and made brackets like 5 - 6 damn times. And here it is

Thanks it's taking time to do but I got the brackets made by sendcutsend and did new mock up. So here is the pics.

We did 10-15 ss camaro stuff on a drop spindle.
It's together but the caliper isn't in enough to clear most wheels. Rocket attack wheels have decent caliper room and needed a 3/8 spacer yet. |
Re: Big Brakes with OE Rotors and OE Brembo 4 piston calipers
So did you pancake your sub- frame and raise your suspension?
Belltech spindles cut and are you running 5x120? 10-15 ss rear caliper? And rotor? What control arms you running? |

Re: Big Brakes with OE Rotors and OE Brembo 4 piston calipers
5x5 but with the wilwood hubs you could go 4.75 without mods to rotor
|
Re: Big Brakes with OE Rotors and OE Brembo 4 piston calipers
Looks great man, I like it. I have an old set of belltechs I should try to do a budget mod style with using those old rotors cut down to hubs and see if I can get it more budget friendly. However I've also thought of going for some cpp x10 spindles and see if hubs from a jeep 2wd wrangler(right side drive mail vehicle) would work. And then you wouldnt have to cut the rotors and try six pistons off the new jeep gc srt8. Did you design the suspension raise? Looks awesome. Good luck on getting it done. I'm still trying to get suspension ideas finished so I can have them made. I'm designing a cantilever air ride system and chassis. That's way down the road tho. Thanks for showing what u did

Re: Big Brakes with OE Rotors and OE Brembo 4 piston calipers
They're 10-15 ss front rotor and caliper.
The cut down stock rotor was junk. The wilwood hub was 1/8" narrower than the cast hub And made the bolt pattern easy to change. |
