Just PM your e-mail address and I can pay pal too. Or I can send a money order. Which ever you prefer.
Hey you can weld. Want to do my exhaust? :D

Important!!!!!!!!!

Hey guys I need to know the year models of your trucks and if your tranny mount has 1 bolt or 2. If I am right the newer models have 2 and the older models have 1. I can leave the crossmembers with no holes for the mount and you can drill them to match your mount preference. I will post a pic of the one I just completed in a few mins.

Hey Bobby, mine is a 78 GMC and it has two!

phantom dually 05-07-2003 11:11 PM

Have you thought about making your member so that it mounts like factory. Mine has mounts on upper and lower of both frame rails. This design was used to eliminate frame flex. I know my frame is thin. My truck is a 83.

phantom dually 05-07-2003 11:14 PM

By the way the member looks great. You ought to make up a jig and fab a bunch up. These could easily go for $100.

CRRoy71 05-08-2003 07:30 AM

Can you make one to fit a 4x4?

Bobs76 05-08-2003 07:40 AM

Yeah I thought about making a jig and welding table, but I need to make room in the garage.I got too many projects n there. Hopefuly I will have it cleared out this weekend.
I also thought about making it bolt up on top and bottom like factory, I just need to use my bare frame and design it.

My dad thinks that the older trucks (73-80) had the 2 bolt mount and the neweerr ones had 1.

Bobs76 05-08-2003 07:43 AM

CRRoy71 I would have to look at a 4x4 and take some measurements, I am sure it could be done, possibly a little more reinforcement where it bolts to the frame. let me check to see if I can get some measurements.

CRRoy71 05-08-2003 08:57 AM

That would be great, please let me know.

Mine has two holes....its a 73.

I am still interested! :)

Nice idea on bolt the crossmember to the top and bottom of the frame rail.
Question: Does the bolt plate on the end extend on both sides of the main member?
Opss just looked at one of the pics. Can I have mine extend on both sides? I would like to use bolts on both sided for bracing.

bigblock73 05-08-2003 12:56 PM

I think having the braces on both sides would be a wise choice...especially since there isn't going to be any vertical bracing to the top frame rail...I would like mine that way too...if possible.

Thanks - Jeff

BTW - your work looks awesome...can't wait. :)

Bobs76 05-08-2003 01:19 PM

Not a problem with extra support. The reason I did not put another piece on there is because it did not line uo with any other holes. I will try to get a design going for support on the top also. Thanks for the input, that is what makes everything work out..ie think tanks etc...
I will see if I can work it to where the bolt holes will line up on the other side also. Shouldn't be too hard. So I guess all the older model trucks did have 2 bolts for the tranny member..

wlarue72 05-08-2003 07:57 PM

Bob, I would like mine to bolt up on both sides also if you can. Thanks, David

Bobs76 05-08-2003 08:09 PM

No problem, I am working on changing the design right now.

gchemist 05-09-2003 10:38 AM

I'll be throwing in a few bucks for the extra bracing. Especially if it can reach the top rail too. :D

Bobs76 05-13-2003 07:07 AM

Hey guys, I got a new job, don't worry I am still working on those xmembers, I will have them ready soon.

gchemist 05-13-2003 02:56 PM

Congrads on the new job. Take care of your stuff first. I don't mind waiting for mine. THANKS!!

phantom dually 05-13-2003 04:28 PM

Congrats man. Our economy sucks right now.

Bobs76 05-13-2003 07:16 PM

New Job

Well I just got home from the new job today, Had to crawl under a few mobile homes though:( Thats Ok because I need the work.
I just wanted to thank you guys, This is the best forum ever!!!
I will be getting to work on those xmembers again in the next day or so and hope to have at least 10 done by monday. If anyone has a pic of a xmember that was made by someone else I would like to compare it to mine, Just curious how others have done it. I have made it so that it connects with both the top and bottom frame rail and has the 4 bolt holes, all for added rigidity.

Thanks for all the support and patience Bobby:flag: :D

boataddict26 05-18-2003 06:07 PM

Bob76....

I will take one to for 30 + s&h. I have a 78 chevy with a 350 trans with 2 bolts. I would like mine to have the extra support to. How much more will you charge for one that goes top and bottom? I am tight on money right now but I think it is worth it to have the extra support. E-Mail or PM me with your address and details, and I will get a money order to you. Aprox. what will shiping be to 32038? North Florida.
Thanks, Michael
