DeadheadNM, could I ask the favor of snagging the camper serial # and the build date from the plate by the back door? Photo below is of the plate from my former #1747. I wouldn't mind also seeing the Galles sticker / logo on the back, if they put one there. I am still adding to my mega-spreadsheet on all the ones still in existence, this is a new one on me. Ironic since I lived in Albuquerque from '87 to '94, and in the mountains east of Albq from '64 to '87. Never had the luck of seeing any Chalet around the whole state that I can remember. http://i50.tinypic.com/2411oxz.jpg |
Re: Pretty decent looking 1977 Blazer Chalet-denver craigslist
After I left I kicked myself for not photographing the plate, which I did see affixed at the rear. I'll make a point to do so when I drop by next and hope to do so next weekend. He was a little saavy - made a point to mention he was aware of an example that sold for ~$20k.
I'll look for a Galles sticker. Galles never used a pot metal dealer badge, which is a real shame. I do have an example pic of the decal Galles used in 72 as well as a Galles license plate. |
Re: Pretty decent looking 1977 Blazer Chalet-denver craigslist
Much appreciated on that effort. A little hard to tell, but it looks like that other black plastic oval (standard issue) RV plate isn't on the back. No loss about that, if it is missing. Could be I'm thinking of vinyl stickers that Ed Black's might have had instead of Galles. My dad bought his '86-ish regular pickup from those guys. More often that not, most Chalets & GMC Casa Grandes I run across have no dealer logos on the back, but some have the potmetal logos and others have vinyl ones.
On the $20k Chalet, that was Chalet #1385, an anomaly that might have over-inflated the classic dealer prices of one or two others. #1385 was on ebay and had multiple bidders up to the $10 grand point, but then just the remaining individual who took it on up to the reserve of $21,500. I saved the bidders history printout on that one. From what I've seen of others in really good shape (near showroom-new restorations), the high-end value of these tops out at around $12-$15 grand. I go into a bit more detail on that in the "Buying And Selling" section of the blazerchalet.com page here. (I'm the caretaker of that site, nearly all of the other content was put in there by its creators years ago) |

Re: Pretty decent looking 1977 Blazer Chalet-denver craigslist
Interesting. I thought it showed well in the pics and wouldn't have been too suspicious about it. Are those seats swapped in by a previous owner? It appears they were made to look correct but I don't think I've seen seats like that in a Chalet before.

Yep, as seen in the '76 brochure for these, the interior had a passengerside closet and vinyl-covered dinette seats. The cab seats were also covered in the same vinyl material and were low-backs. 1977 Blazers had cloth orange-plaid cab seats, but the dinette seats were tan vinyl. So, some prior owner swapped in the tall-back van style cab seats, and the current ebay seller was just guessing on what would pass for original-looking seat material. Attachment 1575840 |

For sale now. Not mine. But I know they are hard to find and this one seems fairly priced.

You might put a call out on the 67-72 pickup board to see if any one can help you. Lots more folks on that part of the forum. Good luck with the search for help and the wife.
