Try hockey pucks if you cant find anything fast for a temporary fix. I read some where in a form from some our friends to the north that they work quite well an stand up to the environment well also.

hockey pucks have a nasty tendancy to crack when the temp drops down in the double digit minus.

Ok had 1 slight problem was a mis-comunication or somethin but I only got 6 of the larger bushings and the other 1/2 (smaller bushings) will be in monday probably

PN # 15597600 list for $21.57 each cost me $16.18. Not sure what the others will cost but hopefully will be less.

I will post other numbers monday.

OK here's other pn#'s for lower bushings. 15597629 list $15.24 cost me $11.43

total cost $180.58 for all 12 bushings (8 for cab 4 for core support).

I think the aftermarket urethane may be the better deal here after all and would probably last longer.

Cant see it here but the back glass is bent in middle cause metal frame is tweaked.

I've fixed a lot worse than that, but what your doing is easier than what some insurance companies want good choice.

Wow, you really stripped the cab. Once you get the seat out and doors off, that should weigh hardly anything.

I listed (edited previous post) the other part numbers for other half of bushings that finally came in today, Here is a pic of em all.

I flipped em to show both ends of the bushings also.

Here is the hardware 4 bolts and 4 bushing retainers. 2 of the bolts are in good condition 2 have some rust and all of the retainers are rusty.

I think I am gonna blast em and paint em or either try get some new ones I dunno.

I pulled out the old blue carpet in cab I bought and this tag was attached to the bottom. I beleive this may have been the original manufacturer of G.M. carpet.

I googled the name and there is (1/2)tons of history on this company and there was even a movie made about them you may have seen it years back "Norma Rae" with Sally Fields I think.

Any way. I am gonna be needing some blue carpet soon and gonna get blue seat redone in a repro vinyl/cloth.

My brother is gonna come by tomorrow and we are planning on doing the cab swap then.

I think I may have a solution to those rusty retainers. Somehow they end up holding water so maybe if I was to drill a few holes for water drain out it wouldn't rust so bad and even the bolts would stay rust free.

OK so my brother didn't make it today so I enlisted a couple guys from the neighborhood and paid em well for helping.

The 3 of us took bed off old then cab and then put new cab on and old bed back.:b69: I also hung the driver's door by myself.
Sorry didn't have time snap pic's.

Gonna pick up some por-15 and jack up 1 side at time and try and coat the cab mounts they had little surface rust on em not too bad.

I also met Captkaos today and got a nos dash pad from him. Really nice guy too. Thanks Chris!
The box was almost as long as my little smart car but managed to stuff it in with rear window open. :lol:

To tell the truth the 3 of us had a tough time at it really needed a 4th but still managed somehow. Its slowly looking like a truck again.

I just realized that the holes cant be under the bushing cause the bushing fits real snug so the hole would have be offset a little to work I think.

I also ordered some new bolts and retainers from G.M..

Glad you are making progress.

I will drill the holes offset to the edge like you suggest. Maybe this way the water never has a chance to get under the bushings and rot the steel away.

Latest update.

I scored an excellent passenger door but wasn't cheap but well worth it. It is a power window/lock door. I removed all guts cleaned it up inside/out changed lock and gonna re-assemble it tomorrow with new vent window (I had bought this year ago) weatherstrips, and my manual hardware.

Since it was all power door there was a hole left from wiring but I found a perfect fit to cover it. I had a old style rubber oil fill plug and if ya pull it all way in only leaves small lip and looks like it was made for it.

Bad new id I think my drivers door has issued because a limb landed on mirror and pulled the skin apart and it will never go back tight I am afraid. Good new is I have a nos door skin that I picked up cheap while back and might just use it if I cant find a decent door.


I need some batteries for the camera sorry.

Also I think Sierra Classic emblem looks cool and matches cab molding and 1 fender so gonna make the rebadge the Scottsdale for GM emblems.

I got some por-15 and used it on frame mounts for cab and used some on front bumper brackets and battery tray and some other stuff.

Finally got the bushing retainer's from G.M. here's the PN# 14027472 for anyone interested and they list for $11.56 net $8.69 each.

There are 6 retainers needed if including the core support.

FYI, the core support bolts are longer than cab bolts.

The replacement G.M. bolts are different than original (replacements have no integral washer) so just get grade 8 hardware bolts to match at your favorite hardware store and get washers since original had integral washers.
