Re: Another rust removing question
I use 2 containers, or tubs for bigger parts. Muriatic acid mixed into the water to eat the rust.....DON'T put anything aluminum or magnesium in there! Then baking soda mixed in the water in the second tub to neutrilize the acid. Rinse well and done. Depending on how stout you mix the acid is how long it will take. For a tub I'll do about 1/2 quart acid to 20 gallons water. Rust will be gone in 24-48 hours. I have a couple sbc heads I need to do just so I can see if they're still any good. I'll take pics.

Re: Another rust removing question
I was looking at some older threads and thought I would bring this back to the top to see what people are doing and hopefully get a few more pictures.

Re: Another rust removing question
I put several gallons of vinegar in a tote. Soak the parts 24 hours and power wash, then rinse in a tote filled with water and baking soda.
The parts look great. For really small parts, I use baskets to soak and rinse. |
