I got my new mufflers in... Woo Hoo !!!!

3" Cherry Bomb Extremes

I think that they should powder coat these, just like they do their glass-packs

So I painted mine, then took a Sharpy to the letters

:metal:

It's alive !!!!!

Well I made some progress, I got it fired off for the first time :metal:
Got the front sat back on, almost done with the swing pedal, & finished the cable throttle

I went to a buddys place to get some parts before he crushed out, & got some sweet electric fans that'll be installed in a "weekend" project :metal:

Man it just does something to ya to here a V8 thumper with open headers :metal: :metal:

:blah: Ok, on with the pics

Re: "One really slow build" thread

Ok, now for some questions

My radiator looks to me like it's a little narrow, is it ?

http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j2...7_03060007.jpg
http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j2...7_03060008.jpg

Next question is, was there a option for "wide" wipers or something
Cuz there is that other hole next to the pass wiper, that looks like it's for a wiper shaft ?

Re: "One really slow build" thread

love the mufflers:metal: did you get them straight from cherry or what? and i think im going to use those on my truck instead of flows

Spray-Bomb 03-27-2007 12:09 PM

Re: "One really slow build" thread

I went with the Cherry's cuz everybody & there dog has Flows... Rolls eyes

These are the single chamber Extreme mufflers (they're race mufflers, so they should sound good) Hopefully the cops won't care (small town)

I got mine though Jegs, but I looked at a lot of different sites & all of them had the same price and most had free shipping

I'll have to look into it, but I'm pretty sure Cherry Bomb has a warranty that says "If you don't like the sound, cut em off and send em back" so thats another reason I went with em :metal:

I just can't wait till I get em on :metal: Prolly won't be much different than the open headers  :metal:

Re: "One really slow build" thread

I forgot to mention, that I found a Mallory Comp 9000 dizzy just laying outside at my buddys place but when I got it home the optical pickup was missing & it was already missing the cap

What are these things worth used, cuz new they're like $350
The parts to fix it are like $150 (unless I find some used ones) & I don't know if I could just get a good used one instead of fixing it or not

Re: "One really slow build" thread

Don't know about the wipers, but yes, GM did have 2 different size radiators (width wise) for these trucks. Is your radiator a 2 core? I think the radiator you have was used on the I-6 trucks. The V-8 trucks got a wider radiator??? Or was it because of automatic vs. manual??? Anyway, yeah, there were different width radiators as well as 2, 3, and 4 core radiators. My truck used to have one like yours, but now it has the wider 3 core radiator. The moutning pads on the PS move over to the next holes. On the bottom, the mount has to be moved out and re-rivveted.

Re: "One really slow build" thread

Thanks for the rad. info

It doesn't matter much cuz I'm getting a 3 core later today

So all I have to do to put the 3 core in is move my mounts, not get different ones... Correct ?

67ChevyRedneck 03-27-2007 01:14 PM

Re: "One really slow build" thread

Depends on what you have now. If you have a 2 row now I think the mounting brackets might be too narrow. The 3 and 4 row radiators use wider mounts.

Get 'er in and see how she fits :D

Ok, I guess I'll find out

Thanks, Matt

Maybe the extra wiper hole has something to do with right hand drive trucks?

That is the Answer!!!!! :metal: European and Australian vehicles used that hole.

I'd love to find the motor and mechanisms to hook my wipers up that way. I think it would be neat.

I think 67redncek covered the radiator stuff. I knew there where some differences, mostly in the core thickness, but I do believe there may have been a length difference depending on what engine you got.

Re: "One really slow build" thread

Dude I love your avatar ^^^

Well, I haven't made a whole lot of progress but I'm soon to be finished

I got my 3-core rad & got the front end shimmed

Now I need to: fill some holes in my frame / drill new ones for my X-member, put my "new" rear yoke in, put the rad in, finish my swing pedal, exhaust, & put in my electric fans

Theres prolly more, but thats the most of it

I'm leaving today for work, & will be gone for a week (I don't want to go, but I need money)

So I will be done by the end of the month

Spray-Bomb 04-17-2007 10:38 PM

Re: "One really slow build" thread

Well I got to work on my truck today

I got my 3-core rad installed & started on my electric fans

I plan to order the stuff to bag my truck this weekend... Gee I love having money to spend :metal:

On with the pics

http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j2...7_04170006.jpg

I put this yellow cowl on, cuz I liked the contrast

http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j2...7_04170009.jpg

I was gonna put my fans in front of the rad, but decided it would be better to put them on the other side because I could get em closer

http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j2...7_03060013.jpg

Off with the ol flex fan... Woo Hoo !

I built this a long time ago, but I don't thin I ever posted about it
It's a tray I built, cuz I was tired of dropping my tools through the "big hole"
I built it out of a big sheet of metal, I cut out of a van (I did all this with a grinder, a hammer, a vice, & some round bar-stock)

http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j2...7_04170010.jpg

Oh, & some pliers

I fixed all the pics on the first page, so if you want any specific pics lemme know

I plan to section the seat frame, like 3-4 inches
I'm 6'-3'' & only have like an inch between my head and the top of my cab (not cool for bumps) So I'll post that up when I get around to it

It was really nasty from sitting outside in the 54, so it took awhile to clean

Here's my buddy Scott, we did our own "Simple Green" commercial

We had already cleaned the back before I thought to get pics  but the pics don't really show how nasty it realy was :barf:

Amazing what a little (or a lot) of simplegreen can do. I say you you send them a bill because those pics there are a good advertisement.

Re: "One really slow build" thread

The bombs should sound good behind that 350... I have a 350 with full length headers that bolt right onto dual glasspacks and chrome turndown tips. They're deffinitly loud! I think I'm gonna get some pipes bent to exit in front of the rear wheels...
