I posted a couple pics earlier in this thread of the 230 in my '64, so here are some of the 250 that is in there now. I bought it on CL from a member of this forum, and cleaned/painted the engine bay last summer.

My 1967 C20 with 250ci & Powerglide.
Hoping to add Power Brakes, & Steering, among others updates. How are you guys adding HEI ignition? And need more info on your power steering pump setups please. :metal: http://image52.webshots.com/552/2/4/...0fMEjAT_fs.jpg |
Re: Post Your Straight Six Pics!
250 power steering is pretty common and easy to find. HEI is REALLY easy. Any chevy inline 6 that has HEI,whether it has built in coil or external coil, will drop right in. All you need is a 12v power wire from a switched source. Then change wires and there you go.

Re: Post Your Straight Six Pics!
Hi everyone! I'm a new member here to the board, but have been surfing around on here for quite a while. I just thought it was time to join. Great place by the way, VERY helpful. I'll post a pic of my 6 as soon as I can figure out how.
Hey Botietruck, are those stock compressor brackets? If not, where did you find them? I've got the whole a/c system minus the brackets. They're a beast to find for a six cylinder!:D |

Here's some pics of a 250 inliner I built and installed in a '66 chevy van I once owned!

Re: Post Your Straight Six Pics!
For good info on the inliners, look for a book called
"Chevrolet Inline Six-Cylinder Power Manual" It's by Leo Santucci who is supposed to be the guru of Chevy 6 cyl.The ISBN is 1-931128-15-4 A lot of it is for very high performance motors but some is useful for street motors also. There is tons of info on what pistons and which cam to run and if you really want to blow the doors off of a V-8 it describes the process to convert a pair of SBC heads to a crossflow 6 Cyl head.I got it thru Motor Books.com and paid $19.95 for it. For those wanting to do the HEI swap look in the FAQ's for member "shifty"s write up.He provides part #'s for the little terminal ends in the electrical block on the firewall and detailed instructions on how to do the swap.Took me about 2 hours to gather parts(15 min to pull dist at JY,1 hour to find and get terminals and 1/2 hour to get wires, plugs and new cap/rotor)and about 20-30 min to do the swap. You will need a timing light and a feeler guage for the plugs. |
Re: Post Your Straight Six Pics!

WOW!! I love this board! :jdp:
You guys inspire me to keep working on my project and just do what I can with what I have. Just happy to find such a wealth of info with a great group of guys & gals? I hope to be out cruising soon when my project is over (yeah right is it ever completely finished? :lol) Thanks for letting me join the ranks of you guys in the real world of builders & tinkers. Unlike the PowerBlock TV Series guys. They just don't seem to work on a budget now do they? |
