Thanks for the pictures everyone.

Greg64, check out Santucci's book on hot rodding the 6, including building an aluminum head out of small block heads!

also, if your talking racing heads, check out Al Weiss in Wichita Falls , TX (used to wrench for Eddie Hill's Top Fueler). His highly modified 292 head made 2002 NHRA Comp Eliminator record, see at:

www.autoshopracing.net

Weiss' car is a unique combination of a '34 Chevy Roadster with a straight 6 Chevy providing the power through an automatic transmission, which puts him in the E/EA category. The class is limited to an OEM production cast iron head, which Weiss points out is the key to his combination.

"Truth be told, there is probably a couple of years worth of work in that head," stated Weiss. "We've done so much welding, porting, polishing, and machining on it, its really a one of a kind piece. I can honestly tell you, it was so much work, if something happens to this head, I don't think I would do another one."

Hey Heater,

Ya, I have Santucci's book. Lots of great info for us 6 cylinder guys. That grafted together head was a neat idea, but looked to be a pile of work. Still, that makes more sense to me than endless labour on the stock head.

I'll have a read of your other link, thanks.

First picture is a dual thottle body TBI set up like you mention...

Re: Tricked-out Chevy six cylinder engines

Yes, exactly like that, aggie91. The classic inline guys are Ford first, but they are intending to produce a Chevy inline head as well. I've emailed one of guys there because they were trying to see how much interest there was.

I'd imagine they want to finish off their big block Ford (240/300) head first.

Those Redline/Webers look great, but I'll bet they're $. I was going to try it with two single bbl TBIs off a Chevy Cavalier (4 banger).

Geez, I wish! My 250 is a sad sack compared to that beauty. I'm been trying to remember where I grabbed those pics from. Whenever I see a nice six, I save the photos for future inspiration.

Another neat 6 is Leo Santucci's drag car:
http://www.customdesignperformance.c...tudebaker.html

What makes it neat is that the head is two SBC heads grafted together with 2 cylinders lopped off.

Re: Tricked-out Chevy six cylinder engines

Man, that had to take at least 1 or 2 hours to complete that head!(well, maybe 3 hours):lol:

Re: Tricked-out Chevy six cylinder engines

greg64, I believe I came across those pics, or some very much like them, on a web site where the engines for built for sale. Is that where you got them? I thought I had saved the link but was looking awhile back and couldn't find it.

Does this sound familiar at all? I believe they were advertised as the "ultimate chevy inline 6", and there were two or three different stages that could be purchased.

I would really like to find that again, if it still exists. Anybody, ring a bell?

Shoot, rick, I just can't remember. You may well be right. If I can dig up the source, I'll get back to you.
