Yo! 84 400! You've got some work ahead of you, but you'll have a great truck when you're done! I've only got dialup so I couldn't view the video,...I'm bummed.
You know mine as FRANKENTRUCK, 3/4 ton 4x4 P/U,...but mine's light green.
Sure like the shortbed.
Pan on the TH350 is square with one corner angled at 45 degrees, TH400 is an irregular rectangle.
Your front axle is a corporate 10 bolt which goes with the NP203, just like mine had, but six lug hubs rather than the 3/4 ton eight lug.
"The Green Monster",...that's perfect! Best of luck! Todd.

Re: The Green Monster Just an old farm truck

Thanks everyone!

I really did not need another project... Time and money are lacking but I think finding parts local will really help. what is important is solid. I can't wait to get moving on this truck. My dad wants to be driving it by the end of December. I thin k we can do that depending on how much of a PITA the inspection station is. She is emissions exempt but still needs to pass safety.

asphaltburner she sure as **** wont be as nice as your truck but fun all the same. I wish I had time to do an np205 swap.

Yo! 84 400!
Thanks (re: about my truck)! But remember, I saved a lot of cash to build mine first, and spent a lot of man-hours building it too. Eight months of work! This was project number eleven for me,...so I've been building old iron for a long time.
You'll just have to do that NP205 swap at a later date!

I wanna know, lghtng2, what someone did to a 400 V8 to make it put out 650hp!!? Have you seen that on a dyno? Todd.

Re: The Green Monster Just an old farm truck

Todd,
In The other charcoal canister topic you mentioned a vehicle with a GVW of over 6,000 pounds pre 1979 with the Hd package had no cats from the factory. Well I just got in from checking out my 77 and found some interesting stuff. It has the air heater valve off of the exhaust manifold but no egr valve. My dad said it stated the GVW on the door sticker to be 6200 pounds. I am gonna double check it tomorrow but if this is the case that would make me cat exempt.

Thanks
I This truck is so much fun. Fixed the return fuel line and threw on a old glass pack. Still nee to change all fluids and fundish the exhaust. She sure has a rear posi or G80. And the lock works great! Here are some pictures...... Woking on it yesterday in the 15 degree temps was rough on the hands.

Re: The Green Monster Just an old farm truck

Whelp been getting a lot done on the truck. Changed oil, both diffs, pvc, carb rebuild, allfilters, coolent, cobbled an exhaust together and did some other odds and ends junk.

Tips:
When you want to paint and it is 19 degrees F out throw the part in the grill for a while so it gets hot. Then paint it while stilll hot. Then throw it back in to bake and turn off the grill so it slow cools. I used this to paint both my diffs and they came out good. They look real light in the pics because i drove threw some snow.

Let your gaskets soak in marvelle mystery oil before installing. Thius will help them seal up fast. Only works on oil seals but has worked great fo me so far.

Interesting finds......
The 12 bolt cover was brazed at one time. maybe a rock puncture??? It had no fluid in it but All seemed fine and I think it slowly leaked out from sitting. I used some RTV in that area to ensure it would not leak.

And after finishing the carb rebuild I could not help playing in some snow.....

Thanks. If you ever find it it would be cool to see another truck in this color. BTW the interior came out real good.

My truck came that color from the factory and was from Philly. Came with a 20's Caddy hood ornament on it.....

Cool truck. Love that grinch sticker! I like those pix in the snowbank even better.

Re: The Green Monster Just an old farm truck

You have a new nick name for your truck. I offically dub it "The Grinch". Keep in mind that 77 was a big transitional year. You will find that several things started in 77were changed during the year, and ended in 77. All of them very random.

Re: The Green Monster Just an old farm truck

yeah Thanks for the comments everyone. I was also thinking about a name change. So far everything has been bitter sweet about this old steppe. I will fill you all in on the latest updates just as soon as I get the cooling system problem fixed.

Thanks for looking

Looks like a fun truck to me, plus it's got my favorite chevy stock wheels, the styled ones. Those are dang hard to come by, especially in 5 lug pattern.

Just to irritate you northern guys... You should see some of the junkers I see in the junkyards with no rust or nothin.....
