I'd be happy to do it too... It'd be the closest thing I have to kids runnin around besides my dog. |

Re: Wing or vent window rebuild
Good stuff Alan.
I had to do most of that when I got my truck, as the bottom pivot rod where the spring goes was broken off when I first got it. I had it welded back on, twice... since I wasn't sure which way that piece fit back on. That bottom rod has a stop on it, to make sure it only turns so far. I now have the pieces to do the rubber around the vent windows and the rivets. Thanks a lot for taking the time to take photos of everything, I know how aggravating that can be sometimes. -W |
Re: Wing or vent window rebuild
That's not my dog. My dog would never use intravenous drugs.

Re: Wing or vent window rebuild
I wonder how much interest there would be in someone to rebuild these and the '67-'87 ones also....maybe I need to start up a side gig......now that Alan has showed me how ;)

Actually, once you realize that you have to bend the snot out of the vent window assembly to get the rubber to fit down in it, it goes pretty smoothly. Then you use a vise to crimp it back down. The putting in the rivets part goes a lot faster if you have someone else to hold it. Tomorrow I get to wrassle with the rubber and the big dance of wiggling it all back together inside the door. -W |

I don't think they serve a purpose other than bling. |

The bottom of the vent window pivots on a stud & spring that goes through the window frame. The upper pivot has a SS rivet that connects the vent window frame to the divider bar via a small bracket. That small bracket attaches to the divider bar w/two smaller rivets. I'll post some pics tomorrow. The frames are out in the truck & it's raining again. |
