I made a small amount of progress this weekend. Sand blasted and painted some of the small parts. Got the tailgate on. I bought a new master cylinder and brake booster, but didn't get it put on yet.

Did a little work on the truck this weekend. Progress has been a lot slower than I would like. Finding time to work on it is a challenge!

This weekend I swapped a serpintine belt setup from a 1990 Suburban.

Also, since my last post I took apart the steering column and replaced the lock cylinder and turn signal / cruise. I cleaned everything up, did a little painting and put it back together.

I got the radiator in and the transmission cooler lines etc. I'm starting on the wiring now. If I can get the wiring figured out I should be ready to finally fire up the engine.

This is an 89' Suburban that I'm using for parts. Right now I'm trying to carefully take out the wiring without breaking any of the plastic clips etc. If that doesn't work, I will resort to a painless wiring kit. The burb was running and driving and in decent shape.

I made some progress on this thing. I finally got enough of the wiring done that I was able to start the engine. :metal: I need to hook up the brake lines to the master cylinder and bleed the brakes, and I should be able to drive it. Actaully, I could have driven it the other day when I started the engine. The problem would have been stopping! I also need an exhaust system. It has open headers right now.

I am working on getting some of the hardware in the doors and painted the dash pad. My dash pad was black. I got some SEM vinyl / plastic paint and painted it red.

Hey Green-
Would mind looking to see if you can find the paint codes on your parts suburban in post #40. I'm thinking of going with a two tone silver on my '83, but would like to use factory colors. Your truck looks really nice! Mine was originally Carmine Red too.

It's been a while since I posted any updates. I have had the truck running, but it was running a little rough. This weekend I put in a 3 wire heated O2 sensor hoping that would fix it. It still ran rough.

A friend stopped by and started poking around and figured out I had 2 plug wires crossed. Duh! Now it runs pretty good!

Here's a video of us screwing around doing an obligatory burn out after we got it running good. It still needs exhaust and lots of other stuff. I'm running short on time and money, but will get there eventually.

I'm making a push to try and get this thing done since we are approaching the end of the year.

I found out the hard way that manual window cabs don't have the holes for the wiring for power windows. I had to take off both doors and drill the holes with a hole saw.

I also put in the rear window this weekend. I have had that window longer than any other part of the truck. It was in a 1981 stepside I had in high school. I took it out to put in a sliding rear window. This one has been in the attic at my parent's house since about 1984.
