Work on the frame today.

Parts arrived, suspension stuff from CPP, hood, fender, etc for Classic Parts.

Pic 1 Braced the frame and then made the cut out.

Pic 2 Marking holes for drilling.

Pic 3 Painted frame with Eastwood encapsulator paint before installing notch.

This is your typical drum to disc brake change, but wanted to post the pics.

Pic 1 Old drum brakes.

Pic 2 Old brakes, arms, springs, etc. removed, with new 2-1/2" drop spindles and 1-1/2" drop coil springs.

At this point I have a question for all of you, that knows these trucks (first time for me). The front end seems really wide compared to the rear. If I checked right the rear axle mounting flange to flange is approx. 60" wide,while the front measures at approx 65". Is this because of the conversion stuff used, or is the 70-72 narrower because they came from the factory with disc brakes? Someone give me a clue.

Installing new gas tank in rear (Blazer style from CPP).

Pic 1 Where cross sill would go.

Pic 2 Spacer I made to go between frame and tank, so tank would not be so far above the frame, and only part of cross sill removed.

Because I lowered the tank, the frame had to be notched for filler tube clearance.

Sorry so late posting, had things to go to.

While waiting for more parts, I started to remove the drip rail, cut off on the side first in short sections.

Then weld back together, and do the next section. This way I didn't let everything move around.

Here you can see across the front, you have the A pillar header, inside roof and outside roof, with the drip rail removed.

Just as before this got welded together a section at a time. Here the next section is cut out.
