Finished up all the media blasting except for the bed. Found only one area that needs a little bit of attention. Pretty well impressed with the overall condition of the sheetmetal on this project. The grill will need slight repairs and driver's fender will need a bit of reconstructive surgery other than that its etch primer and a little bit of body work. Also have the top of the cab painted white and masked off to do the rest.

Do you have measurements for where to make the cut? Also will you be welding up the edge?

Cool build !

Haven't been able to work on drill sergeant due to other projects in the shop. I just put on these 37" military tires and hoping to have the cab on the frame today. All I have to do is seem seal and undercoat the bottom of the cab and the paint the front of the cab in the engine compartment area. Then I can put the cab on and start building it.

Sandblasted and sprayed on zero-rust, then under coated and painted the bottom of the cab. Painted the firewall so that the cab could be installed. Now that the cab is installed should be going pretty quick.

Have to give you props on your fab work! Yours is the first 50 series I have seen on a lighter frame, that huge front end is going to be bada$$ rolling down the road behind a Prius.

Drill Sergeant will definitely be able to yell louder than most others,. Will be installing a set of locomotive horns that I acquired from a customer that I Guarantee to flip a Prius.

When out looking for a high quality heavy duty engine stand today so that I can hang a big block on it with the intention of using for a cummins motor build later. I found NOTHING. So when you can't buy it you build it. This engine stand I estimate will be rated to be 2 ton. Still have a lot of work to do on the stand but this is what I have so far.

Re: C50 Pick-up Drill Sergeant

Getting close to painting the cab been doing some final fitting before priming, sanding, blocking, blocking, blocking. I wasn't going to tell anybody about this until later on but this bed is going to be really cool and incredibly modified. It will be a dumping bed, I am planning on shadow boxing in from the outside jerry can spaces. The jerry cans will be flush with the outside of the bed, these will both be located on the front end each side of the bed. I will be taking the gas filler section out of a suburban to fill the 40 gallon surburban tank in the spare tire area. I will be handcrafting matching fender wells so they are at the right height and width of the front fender wells. I will be shadow boxing into the right rear of the bed a shovel and on the left rear an axe. So needless to say the bed will not be done for probably a month but when it is it will complete the character of this vehicle.

The Paint is On!

Now that the paint is on its going to come along quite quickly. There will be a lot of detail work in the cab where the tank use to be. On the floor it will be getting bedlined gloss black. Should have the glass and most of the interior in the truck within a week. This truck will have an early bench seat that folds forward since I have no tank taking up the space.

So out of the paintbooth and into the shop I did not waste any time putting together the dash. Oh wait I have to install the dash board first. It went together real well and as you can see the dash looks brand new. Please keep in mind everything you are looking at is original equipment that I have collected the best of or have restored it.

In order to make a steering column from a pick-up work in a C50 cab I had to design a bracket or two but all together I am very pleased at the way it turned out. Promise you, you couldn't tell it didn't come this way.

Looks really good. Is this truck for a customer? If not is it for you, or to re-sell when done? Also what color tan is that? Are you going black on the wheels? Keep up the killer work and can't wait to see the bed your doing.

Thanks for the questions Bojak. Funny you should ask about the color of the paint, depending on what day I walk into the paint store and ask for this color, the code is apparently the same color as neutral, camel, beige, so and so forth.

This is truck is being specifically built for me. This is the predecessor to the C50 crew cab one ton 4wd. I believe this will generate interest in a whole new breed of truck. That Rtech Fabrications will be offering in addtion to our crew cabs. Already have great interest from someone to build one after this one.

Regarding the color of the wheels. I actually have a set of 16.5 steel wheels sitting next to the media blaster right now. They will be media blasted then painted white and will have the factory hub cabs on it. I'm also considering putting Kelsey Hayes wheels on it later.

Regarding the bed I'm literally suiting up after writing this to go media blast the bed, the wheels and the blazer tub. For the flares on the bed I just purchased a complete set of front C50 fenders to insure an identical match.

Its coming together very quickly. Should see it on the road within the next few weeks.
