Re: 69 Camaro Part Deaux
This project is looking great! You have excellent taste. I'm looking at ordering a 9inch from Quick Performance for my Chevelle. Which posi unit did you go with and why? Is there on that works better for a touring type car?

Actually, on this project I'm reusing the 3rd member I already had when I put the Lincoln rear end in it so I just bought QP's housing and axle package. This one does have an Auburn posi in it and probably less than 2000 miles on it, and I just couldn't bring myself to just chunk it. On another car I did I bought the complete package from QP and I went with the Tru Trac. Lockers and spools are used in drag race ng, not going around corners, clutch type posi units aren't really designed for hi horsepower applications so that left the Tru Trac. I also wanted them to put it together. Call Mike at QP, he's a great guy. Explain what you're trying to do and he'll make recommendations and explain why. |
Re: 69 Camaro Part Deaux
Finally got the correct axles in - I ordered the wrong spline count :(
Then found out the Camaro spring pads were interfering with the parking. Oh, the joys of making third party parts cooperate with each other. Anyway, Kyle made the necessary adjustments and got it done. http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/b...pshpox3bfa.jpg http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/b...psg8myecvb.jpg So the Camaro is sitting on its own, not on the lift. Loving how it's sits now. http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/b...psce16ak9q.jpg http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/b...ps3dr8oypm.jpg |
Re: 69 Camaro Part Deaux
Yep, very nice stance!
|
Re: 69 Camaro Part Deaux
Love that stance!

Re: 69 Camaro Part Deaux
Thanks Doug and Karl!
Got another pic from Kyle today. He rolled the Camaro away from the lift today to make room for a pickup he's working on. You can get a better sense for the stance in this pic - and also that the camber needs adjustment badly.... No engine in it right now. http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/b...psr4tyu1zq.jpg The tires on the front have the same section width (275) as what used to be on the back. |

Looks great!

Re: 69 Camaro Part Deaux
I've been creepin on your build on Lateral-g. All I can say about the stance, and wheel/tire setup... PERFECT.

Re: 69 Camaro Part Deaux
That looks awesome!

Re: 69 Camaro Part Deaux
Kyle did his magic to the engine - painted and got it installed.

Re: 69 Camaro Part Deaux
Is that air cleaner base just a standard cowl induction base?

Re: 69 Camaro Part Deaux
Those FItech units are very nice. I'm considering putting 2 of them on my 354 for my 40 Ford.

Re: 69 Camaro Part Deaux
It is looking good. I will join the line in that i am also interested in how the FItech works out and if you have any issues with it. My expectations are that it will be great. Like the way the engine looks.

Re: 69 Camaro Part Deaux
Thanks Dwight!
From the FiTech threads I've read, most of the problems centered around their fuel commander setup. Most people recommend an in tank pump |
Re: 69 Camaro Part Deaux
The exhaust is being assembled
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/b...psncy2v78d.jpg Kyle got the Ride Tech Musclebar installed http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/b...pscisz6itd.jpg I had to throw in the towel on getting the 10" wed wheels with 275's to fit in the front with the stance I wanted. Pretty expensive mistake as I had to get the wheels re-hooped, scaling back to 8" with 255's. I researched the heck out of 69 Camaros with Ride Tech Tru Turn - hey, there's only a couple hundred out there, right? But there's variances with brake kits, spindles, even tire manufacturers. :G-Dub: |
Re: 69 Camaro Part Deaux
Glad to see progress being made. Too bad about the wheels. Still looks great.

Re: 69 Camaro Part Deaux
Picked up the drive shaft today to get it shortened - Kyle's getting things wired up for the FiTech unit and he's finished up the exhaust. He did a great job getting it all tucked up in there and over the axle.
Here's a pic of what I saw as I walked n today. http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/b...psd5v1lmxu.jpg |
