I'm very interested in your parking brake setup. I will be doing the same thing to my truck soon. I have a simular rear disc setup with the cable guide lever & spring on the caliper. I want to hook it up to the stock cross shaft and I'm interested in what parking brake cables your using as well.

those 4bt engines are nice units..very poplar for swaps..around here the jeep guys snatch em up quick...there's a bunch of jeeps using em..
what brand gas tank are you using?...that's a nice one

Got the zf-5 hooked up today. Resurfaced the flywheel, spent all morning looking for the right pilot bearing to go from the zf-5 to the Cummins flywheel. New clutch and slave cylinder.

Me too! Hopefully tue/wed... thou I have a lot to do before tue. Found out today that one of my mid engine mounts runs into some Turbo oiling tube that will need rerouting.

I stopped thinking about this and ending up calling Controlcables. For $60 I am getting a completely custom set of cables that go from the brake calipers to the intermediate parking bar with all the appropriate ends. Will certainly update when I get them and also when installed.

My controlcables order came in the mail for the parking brake. Custom made to match the parking bar clevis with a push-in fitting that matches my disk brake rears. Looks perfect on initial fitting.

Engine and frame made it to the shop. Need a little fabrication and engine hoist help. Even this hoist has a difficult time lifting this engine without coming off the back wheels.

First problem is the turbo drain is sitting right under the middle engine mounts I want to use. They make a AN -10 fitting that replaces this. The metal tube just needed to be pounded out from underneath. Second pic is with mounts + starter removed + tube removed.

Had to drop the oil pan and reverse it. The bread truck had the sump in the front which puts it in a bad spot for the mustang ii crossmember. Thankfully Cummins carries a pickup for the rear and the pan is reversible. This also required moving the dipstick and small plug for the old location

Re: 49/51 3100, 4bt Turbo, ZF-5, Classic

Still stuck on a solution for the turbo drain plug, as the AN fitting is still pretty difficult to run a hose around the mount. Thinking next week will cut a hole in the mount to run it up

Pretty smart on their part to make the oil pan reversible...

Been traveling for work the last month and finally got a day(today) right before the 4th of July to wrench.

Got the turbo drain line sorted out, it required cutting up the mount and some an fittings/hose.

Cut out some more box plates to go back to where transmission crossmember starts.

Also, marking up the frame to figure out where everything goes.

Cut and roughed in the transmission crossmember. It is a Jimenez Bro's Custom crossmember. Adjustable up down forward back.

Will be welding box plates this week and will need to figure out fabrication of mounts that go on the frame.

From today's measurements it looks like the engine may fit without firewall modification with rear cylinder in the firewall recess some. Don't know about transmission clearance thou. The zf-5 is huge.

Current altitude.... oil pan is currently slightly lower than front crossmember...
https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4322/...4f725f_z_d.jpg

Distance from electric fan to front pulley... hard to see in this pic but the center of the fan is offset from the front pulley, so there is slightly more room here than you really see from this angle. May want to put a fluidampr or balancer of sorts on the crank pulley in the future.

Re: 49/51 3100, 4bt Turbo, ZF-5, Classic

Lower side of mounts look like they are more going to fit nearly on top of frame... and almost need the engine to gain a little more altitude for access to the lower nut on the mount... even then may need to cut the stud slightly to fit.

Engine is about on a 4 degree slope. Rear is pretty adjustable if need a little more/less angle

Another view from front of engine mounts...

Hope to bring this back to my garage in the next week or so, slow going working in someone else's garage but definitely needed the extra hoisting help.
