I cry every time I look at this thread. Just because this truck is not mine. I don't think you overpaid any considering the condition of the truck. You would probably have more in a rusty one (like mine) to get it to that shape.

Let me go find a tissue......

Right!? lol::lol::lol:

I think 9 grand was a good deal on that one also.

That’s a quality piece. I like it a lot better than the round tubing ones. I’ve got some 1 1/2 laying around, I think I’ll weld one up. If you’ve got some measurements and don’t mind sharing, pm me with them.

I'll get you some as soon as I can
I'll be taking the motor and transmission back out soon to clean and paint the frame....

It fits perfectly...with room to spare...!

Hey that could be my bed at the moment. Mine is green and standing on end too while I removed all the bad metal. The spot weld cutter is worth it's weight. ;)

Ha! Seems stepside beds are in vouge right now!

Tongue and groove with copious amounts of carriage bolts were in mine as well. I ground the heads off most of mine and drove them out. Makes the cross sills look like swiss cheese.

I ended up buying some new bed pieces after I discovered a lot of rust through
I have the bed on a quick built dolly so I can start getting it assembled and squared up..ordered the wood today

I welded the stake pocket back on that was out of place...looks like it's gonna end up a fairly good fit....

Very nice! Where did you get your bed kit? I got mine from Mar K back in March and have just now got the bed front, tailgate and rear cross sill ready for epoxy primer. Too many other things been distracting me.

All parts are from AMD (TriPlus)... I had an issue with the driver side bedside, the stake pocket was out of position....I cut it off and welded it back on in the correct location...everything else fits fairly well...the original fenders need a little body work but I think it's gonna turn out nice..
I ordered the oak wood floor yesterday...gonna do a trial fit....then start getting it ready for paint.
I saw the Mar-K stuff AFTER I bought the AMD....how's the fit on it?

Not to rub it in or anything, but when I mocked mine all together it went together pretty easily with no issues. A little tweaking to get the bed square and boards lined up but nothing unusual.

A little forward progress.
SOKY had the bed wood in stock...got it in 2 days
Attachment 2103098

I'm determined to make this reproduction stuff work.
The rear cross sill..it seems important that it fits correctly..
a little trim here a few slotted holes there and it's getting closer.

A little more progress on the cab...peeling back more layers of rotted sheet metal...I hate spot welds!

I'd bet most trucks look like this in this area

And I thought I was doing some complex body work on my truck...I do not envy you having to go through all this. You are definitely an inspiration, I will certainly follow this thread.
