Yeah, that's the look back in the 70's. I had 8 and 10" ET slots with GoodYear rallys on my 56 Ford. Slots were so popular some even used them as garden hose reels. ;)

My dad hade a 58 studebaker pickup sold it to a friend who proceeded to turn it into a street rod. That was over 20 years ago and it's still sitting in his garage, shed and barn.

Not his but a nice one

Cool to see the Studies Mark and Mark. MD tags at York Fair Grounds. My friend Danny from Warrenton, VA had a late-40s M he sometimes runs up to the NSRA show. He has quite a few choices of cool rides. He's a body man/custom painter. He's had that pickup since the '70s, silver with gold tones in graphics. I think Cragar SSs. I'd like to own that time capsule on day

Some hotted up Ms EDIT: Never mind. I can't share any of those. Wouldn't want to share pictures of a man's truck on the internet for free just for the pleasure of seeing it

I guess Mercurys will have to do

I missed this post being the last on the page. Nice trucks! It's trucks like this that I came up with loving and owning, and it was Stepsides all the way up to '72 that fit in this group. I never had an F100, though. I really got stung by the bug seeing trucks like this tooling around the NW when I came out there in the '70s. I couldn't roll into Eureka without seeing a few, even back to '40 Fords. They were everywhere. In the mid-70s guys were letting them go to get a 4wd. They could be had for very reasonable money

I did some custom flashing work at my friend Bill's house. He has a shop at his house and is a Ford guy. He has a clean '55 F100, but it was inside under the cover that day. His buddy stopped by in his Effie and I snapped this shot from the roof

Back probably in the early 1970s I heard someone say that the perfect pickup would be a Chevrolet frame, Ford body, and International engine.

I never heard that but I'm surprised it doesn't say Ford chassis and Chevy body. Chevy consistently made the best looking trucks and the myth I've often heard through the years was "Ford builds a better truck". So I'd think they'd (people who believe that) say use the Ford chassis.

Anyway, these are old trucks people buy now just as cool vehicles to drive. So they are all good if that's what you like

Maybe I got it backwards but even at the time I was surprised because Chevy had more of a car-like suspension compared to Ford TIB. Or maybe they wanted a better ride?

I keeping hearing the "Ford is a better truck" stuff but I just haven't seen it myself. Maybe they are better between breakdowns

I seen this today. I actually had a 46 Ford pickup in the mid 80’s the one I had had a flathead V8 engine.

Those war era trucks were neat looking.

My logging buddy bought one of those old Ford 2-tons with a blown flathead v8.

He was going to put a different engine in it but being a Ford of course nothing fits. I dunno what finally happened to it - probably went to Pueblo for scrap.

Here is the 1946 I had. Not much room in the cab. The flathead V8 sounded awesome!

My logging buddy bought a baby blue Dodge like the light green one, only lwb 3/4 ton. It had a 318 and 4 speed, and it started burning oil pretty bad after not too long. That was a shame since it was stout - a lot better than the F-150 360/automatic that he had before. (he had a couple different early 70's Fords almost alike but for color, and totally used up both of them)

There was one or two local folks that wanted some cut up firewood which I normally didn't sell (just 20' logs). We rigged up some tall sideboards and took them a good load on his dodge since all I had was my log truck, a swb pickup, and the "nice" 71 with the the little camper.

Very slick! I'd like to see that one in person.

I don't know anything about this one, but I like it

Let me make sure I've got this right. You were flashing from the roof and a truck drove up?
