The only bad spot on the roof is that bad spot where the drip rail gap is. I'm going to attempt a patch first, worse case I'll have to do more if I butcher it up. |

I’m pretty sure I was born into the wrong family. Y’all have any room left in the house for 1 more? I don’t eat much and I’ll keep my room real clean! :metal:

Time for another update. We finally got the axle housing in place, and we started assembling it. We replaced the complete rear braking system with all new parts from NAPA and a stainless steel brake line kit from GMCPAULS. KaCee even got some help from his big sis while building the brakes.

KaCee had a grease party when a couple of his racing buddies were over for the weekend. They packed bearings and installed the rear hubs and axles.

The big brown truck dropped off our anti theft device a couple of weeks ago.
This catches me up on progress. Hoping to drop the engine and transmission in this weekend. Waiting on the arrival of the new fuel tank to install in the frame and run all of the fuel lines. |

Haven't done too much on our ole blue lately, been getting the racecars ready for the '21 season, but we're about to get back on it. Our new gas tank from Holley came in, we've got it mocked up and now we're waiting on the rest of the fittings to come in. Next step is gonna be to install the engine and transmission into the chassis, secure the tank and run all of our fuel lines. We're also planning on keeping the saddle tanks, but with a twist, details on that later. |

Time for another update on ole blue, it’s been a while. So while waiting for the fittings to be shipped (waiting on everything these days ain’t we) KaCee just had to see what it looked like with wheels mounted. He hauled in the old wheels (still have 1996 air in them) mounted them up.

Now that we have a rolling chassis, we went ahead and installed the engine and transmission.

All the fittings finally came in, so we bent up some stainless tubing and made up some hoses, and now our main fuel system is almost complete. (just realized I never took pics of our finished fuel line so the boy took some today)

Still undecided on wheels, but always looking for ideas, I scored some C-20 hubcaps off of Facebook Marketplace. Now we gotta find some wheels to mount them on.

So, we started mounting the engine accessories on the front of the engine and discovered that the alternator wouldn’t fit with the aftermarket heads and valve covers. And then, for some reason, the power steering bracket didn’t fit worth a damn with the aftermarket motor mounts. Since I really wanted to convert to a serpentine system anyway, (but didn’t want to spend the money) we bit the bullet and bought Holley’s mid mount accessory drive system and installed it. This kit is well thought out and fit beautifully.

Next up we bought Flowmaster ‘s American Thunder exhaust kit, which didn’t fit quite like I wanted. The kit is made for coil spring trucks and probably fit those great. It didn’t matter to us really, we just wanted something to start with and wanted the flowmaster mufflers. The boy wants the exhaust to exit in front of the back wheels anyway, so we modified the installation to do so. It came with three different exit locations, so I used some of that to make the tie-ins to the headers. Now we just gotta get a buddy to come and tig it up in a few places.

Fantastic project! I understand firsthand how racing with your son/daughter can take up time and expenses. Good for you! Creating memories that will last a lifetime. Keep the reports coming....

It’s past time for another update, but time is something I seem to be lacking. We’ve been racing over the summer, when Mother Nature would let us, and managed to pick up a couple of wins and a runner up. I’ve also been picking at my daughter’s “big” dragster getting it ready for the 2022 race season.
