A little off topic but that reminds me of a guy I knew. He told me this and I kind of believe it because he was the type of guy to do it.

He told me that the credit card company's kept sending him those "pre approved' offers with postage paid return envelopes. I guess they were pretty aggressive and it got on his nerves. So he would tape the return envelope to a brick and they would have to pay the postage.

Portholes. Where are the portholes? Very nice stance though.

I think it's a shame they didn't make them longer, with more power... I'd drive it.

I don't get the complaints about low power. Are we not car guys here? Gaining more power from what we drive is part of this thing, isn't it? I never left anything the way it came out of the box

More power. Yes!

Longer... No! It barely fits in my garage now. Not everybody has a garage that you can park a Zeppelin in.

Do I sound jealous of your badazz new garage? Because I am.

4.6 or 5.0 power sure would have been nice. But I'm good with not so fast. I'm not too fast these days.

Quit spending my money Tim. That's my wife's job...And my kids.

I actually like the stock grille better. I might be crazy (Might?) but I think it looks kind of old Ferrari and we all know Ford and Ferrari have been taking pot shots at each other for years.

Or I could be completely wrong. I often am.

Longer - Time-wise. I would have like to have seen a 2nd gen get a little boxier. When Ford redid the mustang in 2010 from the 2005 retro body they ended up with the best looking modern Mustang (and most 67-69 looking mustang ever) and caused me to buy a 2011 brand new. These were only built 4 years?

Yup. Only 4 years and they made about 68,000 of them total. Not exactly rare but not too common either.

I thought you were talking about the length of the car. What a fool I am. But it reminded me of my 1968 Oldsmobile 98 convertible. What a boat. I had to touch the bumper on the front wall garage to close the door. No clearance whatsoever. It barely fit. Not an inch to spare. She was a big girl. But the big ones give you the best ride. :D

When I was around 12 my dad bought a 69 Pontiac Bonneville convertible because it had a good running 455 in it. It was a NY bondo bucket... looked good from 10' away, swiss cheese underneath. BUT it was cool enough he kept it around whole for 2 summers and drove it before pulling the motor. I think that was the biggest car my dad ever owned. The frame was bad and most of the body was bondo.

Soooo.... I had a car with a big stereo in it and it got ripped off one night while I was at work. Got a pretty healthy check for it, and remembered I had always wanted a streetbike. So, I deposit a State Farm check, I find a bike (82 GS1100E, wish I had it back.) I buy it, I write a check, Wife is PO'd, no problem, right?
I'm working graveyard at this point. Few days go by, about 10 AM I get awakened by a call from a "lady" at the bank informing me that I had written a large bad check and I was in a great deal of trouble, all in the snottiest tone I've ever heard. "Really? I deposited way more than that last week." "Do you have a deposit slip?" "You know, I think I do." "Really, what's the number?" I find it and read it off to her, she snottily says she'll be looking into this and she'll get back to me.
An hour later, I get A VERY apologetic call that she'd looked into it, and the deposit had been miskeyed, and the mistake was being taken care of and all the charges were being reversed. Hmm. I don't think my reply was the meek OK she expected. Had she only been polite when waking me up in the first place... I stopped doing business there shortly after that.

I like the original grille better, too. Just do all the other stuff and take your wife out for a nice dinner with the money you saved.

The way I see it "reversed charges" should mean they drop their charges, then add that same amount to your account. The bank should be fined for such a bad mistake as well as the indignant tone being used.

That is the problem. They make you feel like a criminal when you did nothing wrong. Someone else made a mistake but you are guilty until proven innocent.

I would never knowingly write a bad check. Well...I take that back. I might write one to my ex wife. Not to cheat her but just to piss her off for my own amusement. It would be worth it.

I wish they had used the 4.6 so it could at least be modded easily.

I don't know why they didn't. They were putting them in everything else.

I recall "conversations" with one of my childhood friends back in the early '60s about Chevy/Ford, who's better. His dad used to talk about how the T-Bird sold like hotcakes, and dissed the Corvettes. Interesting to recall those conversations, since the Corvette was first by a couple of years, but I was just a kid and didn't know enough at the time to argue back. The guy was BS-ing me, and I didn't have the stuff to call out an adult when they were wrong.

The first Thunderbird was a sports car, like the Vette was, just not as much (enough?) "sport". They had a touch more 'pleasure cruiser" in them than Vette. Couldn't touch the Vette so they went with "Luxury Sport" after just a few years. Those Thunderbirds sold like hotcakes. That put GM to work on something to compete and came up with a better answer in '63, the Buick Riviera. And they kicked Thunderbird's butt! the T-bird seems to head more in the luxury direction after that. Yes, I owned a '63 Rivvy

Not this one

Isn't the 4.6 the one that spits the spark plugs out? I think I have a special Ford broken spark plug removal tool in my drawer somewhere. If anyone needs it. No use to me. LOL
