Re: Tractor thread?
Are used tractor prices up like used vehicle prices are?
|
Re: Tractor thread?
Absolutely!! because of the required 'smog' and def requirements on equipment beginning in 2014. Anything older and in decent shape is demanding a premium price. I've been looking for a larger excavator and all I see are really stupid prices for wooped machinery with a huge amount of hours on them. Worn out tracks, sloppy pins and bushings that need replacement. A lot of times leaking hoses and neglected maintenance. Torn out seats. With that being said, I can double my money on my Ford 545C, even though I just put 2k into the tires alone.

Several inches of fresh snow fell overnight and more on the way. The Kubota blower makes quick work of the snow.

Grandpa's Farmall Cub. We believe it's a 1948 or 1949, but can't be sure. I remember driving it planting Grandma's garden in the mid 90's. Hasn't run in a long time now, though.

Great little Tractor:metal: We done some work on it together. The Clutch is about as big as a small serving dish. It was broken as a New couple after a Honeymoon, The crack was between the lower radiator and the steering gear housing. We grooved out the crack and drilled holes at the end of the crack. It actually turned out to be a Nice Job. We drilled a hole and put a Grease fitting to lube the Steering box. |

I love the N series tractors. Your Cub looks Over the Top:metal: Daddy bought one of those and it was a Project to get it going. We actually made a ONE-point lift scraper blade for it. I always (took it easy on it ) . The clutch disc is about as big as a serving plate;) That Cub you fixed up is to perfection:metal: |
Re: Tractor thread?
Both tractors were so common growing up and I see them all over still today, in use as well as show quality.
That really is one fine job done on that Cub. There is a clean one for sale a couple doors down from the house I'm working on now. I've been meaning to go take a look. The guy who's house I'm working on I noticed has a N-series tucked up under his barn. I'll keep my eye on that. wouldn't mind having one. Kirk, you also did a fantastic restoration. I had a thing for the early lawn tractors and had two JD 110 early models, round fenders and seat. I also had an 80 trailer. When a neighbor claimed the meadow next to my place, which meant I stopped mowing it, I decided to let my 110s go. Not enough space to store them. I'll find other old ones when I move |

Dad and I went back up to our farm today and I got some pictures of the John Deere. We had put new tires on it and then discovered that the engine was stuck. Oops. The clutch was also stuck, so last fall we poured some atf in the cylinders and hosed them down with PB blaster as well. We also hosed down the clutch forks and such with PB. Didn’t try to break the engine free today, but we did stand on the clutch and it’s moving now, so that’s good. Next time we get up there, we’ll try to break the engine free again

Re: Tractor thread?
Nice Tractor:metal:
Just a Suggestion 50/50 mix of Acetone/ATf is the best for cleaning stuck cylinders.:chevy::chevy::chevy: |
