Well it took them awhile to make this plaid for us, but it's finally here. This is going to be a black leather and plaid combination interior. Including the door panels. I'm so excited, I can't hardly stand to wait to get them back from upholstery. I hate waiting!

Wow ,Impressive build .

awesome build! but if I may interject... build a big front bumper and grill guard on that thing! It would be a shame to smack a deer with that flat nose. Besides, what's a 2-3 hundred pounds up front going to hurt?! Since you're building, might as well do a winch too.

Pardon my ignorance, but what is that heater in the back in the frame? Heat the hydraulic oil?

What you're seeing there is actually the climate control system for the cabin. This has more of a central heat and air system in it.

Interesting, so the a/c and heater core is back there and then you blow the air up? Is that sealed to the bottom of the cab then? I am guessing this is how they do it in large/over the road trucks?

Pictures do not begin to show how nice my door panels and seats have turned out. I'm not easily impressed but Rick at Stitchwurx definitely killed it. I'll how more pics soon. Planning on designing a rear arm rest since GM did not make them for the suburbans.

Well, in goes the rust prevention coating. This is a product (Zero Rust) that I use for rust proofing the inside of all of our cabs. After this coat comes the spray-in rubber coating. Then comes the paint.

Needless to say, the lower Chrome molding needed a little bit of modifying. I'm very pleased with the way this is turning out.

We are taking this from a dream to reality. Cannot wait for this upcoming show season, plan to be in California, Arizona, Texas, Washington and possibly in Colorado. Full schedule that is for sure.

Well I'm starting to lay out the wiring harness. Not much of this truck is stock, but I am using the original harness but reassigning some of the wires.

snj8198 02-14-2017 02:55 PM

Re: K50 Crew Cab Cummins Truck

The original harness was in good enough shape to warrant reuse? Great! That is rare.

I'm very excited that Rick from Stichwurx is here installing all the carpeting on the Duke today. Can't wait to see it done. I'm really eager to see the back seat when he finishes it this week. Definitely going to be epic. Rick is definitely very good at designing one-off interiors and doing high-end work. Check him out at @stichwurx on Instagram.

I LOVE this interior. I have been wanting to so something like this in one of my vehicles. Now I know it will look good. Keep up the progress on this awesome truck.

Sooooo top or bottom? Aftermarket thresholds including Suburban 3rd door in Chrome. I cannot get the Suburban 3rd door in stainless anymore and that would be my preference. I had a set powder coated hammered silver. I'm kind of curious what you think.

I absolutely love this build! Awesome work man! Can't wait to see it done.

The crew cab pictured in Cali in the previous post, reminds me of a time when I used to see those trucks being used by state DOTs, RRs and forest preserves. The last one in active service I saw was about 20 yrs ago. Since then, I think most all have gone to the crusher.

Finished up the front kick panel speaker housings. These will fit into the fresh air vent holes, which on the Duke, have been deleted.

Will you have it done for the brothers truck show in so cal in June?

atvpro 03-28-2017 07:17 PM

Re: K50 Crew Cab Cummins Truck

Yes, we are planning on making it the debut event. Everything we're doing at this point is to make the brothers truck show. We have many other truck shows schedule but that's the most important one to us.

I hope this is not a dumb question, but will this thing be trailered to the shows? You certainly think big.

Tricky question to answer. Yes we will be trailering it. Our motto here at Rtech Fabrications is " we build trucks to do truck things". In order to preserve the paint and any possible damages that could occur while driving it to the further away shows, we are going to be trailering it. Keep in mind this is my personal vehicle that will be daily driven once we're done showing it. When I drove the drill sergeant down to Phoenix a couple years ago, by the time I got there I had a lot of ships in the grill section as well as a broken windshield. That's a long drive from Hayden Idaho. For any of the closer shows to us we will drive it. LOL, one thing for sure, if our tow vehicle breaks down, at least I'll have a spare one in tow.
