Re: '60-'62 Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket

That's a CPP booster kit. I ordered the 60-62 kit through Classic Parts of America and the brackets it came with didn't even come close to lining up. I called CPP and they told me I needed a $30 adapter for the kit that's supposed to fit my truck. The adapter turned out to be just a steel plate with some holes drilled in it and they didn't even line up either.

It was so nice to just bolt your bracket right on with no troubles whatsoever. Very nice work.

Re: '60-'62 Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket

Thanks for the compliment creep :D

As far as I know, I'm the only one making an exact fit brake booster brackets for the '60-'72 GM trucks.

Did you have to modify the booster holes in the bracket to accomodate the CPP booster?

Re: '60-'62 Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket

Nope! Everything fit perfectly.

Captainfab 05-27-2010 12:03 AM

Re: '60-'62 Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket

Cool....I'm glad it worked out that easy. Some of the aftermarket boosters that I've seen had a slightly different stud pattern on the back. I just haven't had one of CPP's boosters in hand to measure one.

Hey Capt Fab, I have a 62 that I added a power booster out of a 72 years ago, never was happy with the way I did it, will the 72 booster work with your bracket ??

Captainfab 11-22-2010 12:15 AM

Re: '60-'62 Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket

The '67-'72 boosters will work, but you will have to elongate the holes slightly. Those boosters have a slightly different mounting stud pattern than the ones my bracket is designed around.

I replied to your PM.

Captainfab,

:c2:Def. going to be getting one of those power brake brackets for my '61 since Im going to be using a '73 front end with disc brakes :smoke:

Is there any way I can shorten the front "axle" because I know that the '73 is longer than my orig. front by 1.5'?

Want to put decent tires with nice width and dont want rub...:truck:

Thanks again for the PM about the chassi swap('61 to '73).....

Captainfab 08-21-2011 11:46 PM

Re: '60-'62 Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket

The only way I know of to narrow the track width would be with shorter upper and lower control arms. I don't know if anyone makes them for the '73-'87 truck suspension. IMO it would be easier and less $$ to just get wheels with the correct backspacing. Even if you had to have them made.

Re: '60-'62 Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket

Thanks for the info, I'll be getting the '73 in a couple of weeks so I'll just take it apart and not hassle with frame....

Oh also thanks for PM too....great info, I'll be needing to order that bracket soon...Whats the best way; paypal or???

Thanks,
el_bole

Captainfab 08-22-2011 10:43 PM

Re: '60-'62 Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket

Yes, PayPal works well for me. Let me know.

Re: '60-'62 Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket

Thanks for the info about paypal, will prob. be looking to buy booster adapter in a month or so.

On a different note; as you may or may not know I have a '73 c10 rolling chassis complete with orig. motor mounts. Doin front end swap onto my '61...

I purchased "towers" to place motor mounts on off of a '64 chevy truck that I was originally going to use.

Should I use the '64 "towers" or use the '73 motor mounts? What easier and better? By the way Im going to install an SBC 283...

Thanks,

Hey John, I just ordered the one for the 63-66 the other day,but now I'm gonna need the 61 model, no clutch. Buying a 61 apache.

This statement was made in the thread for the 63-66 brackets...Does it apply for this style bracket as well?

"Boosters with this pattern are commonly found on S10's and full size pickups, Suburbans, Blazers and Tahoes from 1988 to at least 1998."

Captainfab 09-06-2011 11:56 PM

Re: '60-'62 Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket

Yes, all of my booster brackets are designed to accept the same style of booster. Let me know when you're ready to order one.

Re: '60-'62 Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket

There are a few of the compatable boosters listed in post #1, but here is a little list.

'67-'70 pickups, Suburbans, Blazers
'70-'74 Impala, Caprice
'80's G body Vans (full sized)
Early Astro/Safari vans with the vacuum booster
'82-'02 S10/S15 pickups and Blazers
'88-'98 full sized pickups
'92-'98 Suburbans, Blazers
Most aftermarket universal boosters

There may be some other applications, and/or years, but these are the ones I have been able to verify.

How do I go about ordering the power booster bracket. I'm going to install this on a 62 c10 that's going to get converted from i6/4 speed manual to v8/auto. What's it going to cost me to ship to Cali and how much.
