Thanks man, I will report! I'm prolly whining a bit more than I should be. The amount of metal work and filler I've done is miniscule compared to most projects around here. I think it's going to go pretty quick from here on out!

Well I'm caught up on all your progress, it's much more than I've done. Nice work on the vent windows! I've been in home improvement mode, and a few odd jobs here and there. Nuthin on the truck :(

Thanks John! We had a really nice weekend at 50+ degrees with SUN on Saturday. I've been eyeballing your build. What's next for you?

Thanks man! I've been follwoing along on your instrument panel resto. Looking forward to that plastic polish.
I've heard a lot about that swap meet over the years but have never made it. There are lots of folks around here that'll load up their extras and head down. It's not on my schedule this year either :(

Thanks Mike, it was super cool to see you get yours done! Lots of inspiration there. Still can't believe how it all came together for you at the end before SEMA. If you could only see my stuff in person.... Cell phone pics sure make me look like an expert. NO WAY could I make a living at this bodywork buiz!

Okay, just needed to chime in here and let you all know I aint been sitting on my azz. Spent the last couple nights cleaning up small parts and detailing my steering column. I loaded them all up in the red-neck paint booth for epoxy and made kind of a mess. See my drama has been making small batches. This stuff is expensive and I hate mixing up a pot only to.use half of it. I've been trying to have enuff stuff ready to use up whatever i mix up. Tonight was too much, I had $hit everywhere. Bunch of runs and draggin the hose over nice stuff. I was pissed to say the least! I need more room and more light! I gotta get this sorted out before clear coat.... I'll post pics tomorrow. Ugh! I can't wait to build a motor!!!

Don't freak out. This is important.

You're gonna have waste. It sucks, but it's far better than running out mid-panel.

Don't sweat the epoxy. I just consider it a scratch coat, a good base for my G2.

Now you know, you have to think ahead when doing a lot of stuff. Considerations must be made.

Congratulations! Stage one in the bag! You makin' progress, baby!

Re: My '67 Fleetside C10 renew

No worries man. Your Killin' it in my book.
I mixed 40oz of epoxy, started shootin, gun took a dump, back up gun even worse, rebuilt first gun and clean out, shot everything, 10-15oz left over. Couldn't figure out why so much left over.
Went out the next day to find a part I forgot to put in the booth:dohh:
Time before last when I shot some epoxy I had to set the gun down and leave the shop. I was boilin'.
Stupid half doors like to lean or flat out fall over in mid inside shoot. Even with a wire strung holding them from the top.
The epoxy I lay out says it has an 8 hr pot life on the can. So I had two beers and calmed down.

When I worked for a body guy 20+ yrs ago (for a month) I learned something I'll never forget.
He would walk through his layout pretending to shoot every piece. Practice his plan of attach.
I try and do it when I can remember and it pays off.

Re: My '67 Fleetside C10 renew

Thanks for the tips and the encouragement! Tonight I'll epoxy the pretty side of the hood and the last couple bed sills and that's that on the bare metal! (cept I still got the whole damn bed laying there for later) From there it's G2 on the door skins, fenders, hood, tailgate and cowl. I'm anticipating that going pretty quick as I'm on kind of a roll and it's not FREEZING.

Not a ton to report over the weekend but I did work on the truck some. First, I backed my cab into the tablesaw and put a friggin dent in it! :dohh: - Fixed that. Then I helped the Boy with a 4.3 throttle body conversion on his 2.8. Boy did that bump up the ponies! I'd bet 3 or 4 at least .
Spent Sunday at the boneyard and got my trans x-member, engine stands and engine mount brackets. Bought new mounts, slapped it all together and stuffed it. I want to get the clutch linkage and shifter all sorted out before paint. So far so good.
Thanks to Captian Fab for pointing me in the right direction on the clam shell style engine stands I was looking for!!!

Thanks guys! Havin trouble squirrelin the bux for paint. And there's still the SANDING part  Can't be too long tho. I've got finished parts all over the damn place just waiting to get knocked over or whacked. It's a cluster!

I did draw up them tailgate letters in CAD. I used the laser here at work to cut some out of heavy paper for a test fit. I imagine there'll be a few adjustments but once I've got them nailed I found some sticky back maksing/stencil paper online. I'll cut the letters out to mask my white paint then shoot the yellow.

You...and your fancy-schmancy technology! They look good! They'll look better on the floor of the shop after the gate is painted and cleared! (How's this dress look, dear? It'll look great on the floor later!)

Enough of this! Git ta sandin! Summer's a-comin!

Knucklehead has a new side-gig. Makin Lincoln-Lockers for the rest of the knuckleheads down at the skill-center! Fifteen dollah, make you hollah!

I just bought him a nice set of c-list tires. Also told him that's the last set I'm buying! He's getting trained (I hope) on a brand new alignment machine at school but the teach wouldn't let him near it with the may-pop rubber on there. Hopefully he can get it on there now and learn a thing or two.

Awesome. Of course he's doing that with a Lincoln tombstone, anything else just wouldn't be right!
