Installed the windshield and rear glass this weekend. Hands are sore, but they’re in. Now that the glass is in it's starting to look like a truck! Working on the doors next.

Looks really nice!! How much help did you have on the glass?? I am not looking forward to installing the glass and my front has the stainless trim. I am afraid of breaking the windshield installing it. Steve

Just one other person slapping on it as I was working the inside over the lip. Once started all the way around I pulled it the rest of the way with the rope. At that point you’ll have about 90% of the seal in place. From there is where your hands get sore. Just keep pushing and slapping until it’s in place. I had to use a large 90 degree pick to pull the bottom side over the lip. Here’s a great video from brothers truck. It’s how I figured out how to do it. I’m still pushing on it every time I walk by it. It’s slowly settling in place.

Thanks guys! It’s really starting to look like a truck with the glass in it.

Re: My 56 build

remember that the windshield doesn't come too far inside the rubber so it actually kinda sits against a ledge. otherwise the windshield would be pushed into the cab, worse case scenario. the rubber is kinda smaller than the glass if you think about it that way.

Thank You. I am going to start with the back window first (less chance of breaking) then go after the front and will watch the video. Steve

Re: My 56 build

i actually did the front first and had less issues than the back. that lock-strip thing makes it a good bit crazier

Doors are installed. Now to wait for the seals to settle. First set took about 2 years. I bought another set for the final assembly. (A wire wheel ate the first set.) First time using weatherstrip adhesive. Went pretty well. Made quite the mess. Even managed to get some in my hair! Was with the effort :metal:

looks great Jason. I remember doing door seals on my 67 camaro. OMG what a mess. I tried so hard to be neat but got it on my gloves and apparently touched even surface possible with it.

More progress. Most of the front end is assembled. Cold air intake and electrical box cover are done. Lights are all wired. Grill is in. Hood is almost ready for buffing. Next is to finish my interior wiring and install windows in the doors.

The hardware came from classic auto and the glass came from balls rod and kustom. I upgraded the switches. They are from a 2000 impala(rockauto)
