Buzzin' Dozen. I haven't watched tv for weeks but last night I flicker 'er on and came across Ice Road Truckers. Haven't seen that show in years. The episode took place when there was an early thaw from unusually higher temps. The one feller was pulling doubles, was tight on time due to the thaw, and had to run through a stretch that doubles aren't allowed. No time to make two runs out of it he hooked up with that "King of Obsolete" guy (I'm surprised we've never started a thread on him). He was running a Louisville obviously powered by Detroit. Made the show 10x better hearing that rig buzz on by

I believe there were few '58-'59 GMC's built with 4-71T's and 6-71T's. I think they were different than later turbo'ed Detroits, didn't use a bypass blower. Supposedly made a lot of power, for a little while anyway....

in post #40..... that is my engine, it had been run only briefly at that time ( I mean we drug it out of the hole it was in, fired it up and drove it to a flat spot in the yard... notice there are no belts on the water pump...) I am assuming that oily greasy mess is either a valve cover gasket or from "wet stacking" as they call it even now I notice that the joint from the pipe to the exhaust manifold is pretty wet and nasty looking, is that what they are talking about on wet stack ?

I don't know about wet stacking, but I do know that sound. All I can say is , cool.

Sorry guys, no new video, Temps dropped to zero (F) overnight, and that 5 gallons of fresh 40 weight is to much for my class 31 battery, going to try to get a fresh 8D this week and see if I can spin her with that....and think about some pan heaters....

I've added a few more over at the other thread we have going, but the last time I checked, no new ones lately.

Nothing real good anyway, lol.

I came across this searching for videos I've posted from Photobucket. I wanted to see if those show now that I did a fix that makes pictures show again. Trying to figure out how to grab "my" videos that P-bucket is holding ransom. I can get the pictures but not the videos.

OK, continuing from last nite. Picked this 1979 GMC 7000 with a 453T and clark 5 speed in Utah couple months ago. Been looking for one of these since 1988 when I sold my snowcat hauling truck. Not sure where to put it yet. I do have a 1982 GMC 7000 4x4 American coleman on 10 hole budds. Its has a goodwrench 427 in it right now but the 453T would sound a lot better. Besides, this is to short of wheelbase for me.

Hey you character (aren't I nice?), where the hell ya been? I've wondered about what you from time to time. That's a neat little mill there. Would be nice in that Coleman job.

Don't ask me where I;ve been because I don't know, I tend to go in spurts. I guess I been missing out on lots of fun. Has'nt stopped me from dragging home more projects. I've got couple more you might find interesting, give me couple hours, maybe I can get another one up.

I love this thread, reminds me of when I was a kid. In elementary school, there was an active quarry just a couple miles away. You could hear those screaming dump trucks driving past several times a day. A very distinctive sound that even a kid will notice.

Peanutbutter,

I can help you with the wheel base...

Seeing yours is inspiring me to get mine finished. I plan to shorten the frame (currently 24' cab to end of frame) and install a rollback bed for hauling antique tractors.

David
