DJ, those motor mounts are great. As for the trans cross member, you will have problems with the exhaust if this truck is lowered. My Comp headers ran into the stock cross member. I had to get one with a 2 or 3 inch drop so i could run the exhaust straight.

Jr's motor is finally here. We will try to get some motor pics and get started on the install soon. Cade has been cleaning the truck and front frame are so we can paint it. We also have to paint the engine.

Here are a few pics of the motor. We have to clean some old paint of the pan and block and paint the engine. I hope to use some Fabbed Aluminum valve covers if they will work.

Re: DJ JR's Build Thread

The motor is a 454 with stock type ls6 dome pistons and 781 oval ports. The motor has an Edelbrock performer rpm cam and intake with the matching springs. We are topping this combo with a 650 double pumper. We have a Ptc convertor and a built turbo 400 and a 9 inch with moser axles and a posi unit. This truck was ordered with leaf spring but will be swapped out for trailing arms and coilover shocks. We still have to buy wheels but I am hoping to get it to move on its own power before Cade's Birthday the end of August. I wish I had a truck like this at 14.

Where did you get the plastic wood? Is that like the BarForce plastic lumber? Thought that stuff was kind of heavy...

Re: DJ JR's Build Thread

I did a trade with a guy and got it. Its the stuff used for decks. I'm too lazy to keep up real wood. This will have stainless strips when finished.

That would be sweet Rob. I gotta figure out the wheel and tire situation? I want to crank it by his birthday at the end of the month.

Marv it was just too good of a deal to pass up. I would have had twice the money in it if we had started with an unpainted truck. I hope he likes it enough to want to stick with racing!
