Re: 2 for 1, My son's first Square Build
Well not much is happening here. I have been traveling for work the last 2 weeks and the weather has been terrible before that. When I get back we plan on pulling the front clip and start cleanning the firewall and front frame/suspension before baseball starts. It sucks that I have been gone and not able to help Korbin the last 2 weeks, the weather back home has been in the 70's...
Some how, Korbin's account is locked out and his email is not working so he has not been able to post. When I get home later this week, I hope to get that corrected for him. |
Re: 2 for 1, My son's first Square Build
Well, I have not gotten his email to work so that we cannot get his account unlocked.
Anyway, we did get the front clip off of the truck and pulled the a/c unit off the firewall before baseball started...He broke his foot, and just got his cast off about 2 weeks ago and was able to start playing ball this week. No other progress has been made, but we have our next goal set. The goal by the end of May is to have the bed off and working taking apart the suspension. The goal by the end of the summer is to have the frame stripped down and clean up and painted. Next is to have the suspension peices sandblasted and coated (paint or powder) and assembled with spindles but no brakes yet... |
Re: 2 for 1, My son's first Square Build
Hey guys, I'm the old man that dealt with Korbin on these trucks and I joined just so he would know that I'm keeping track of his progress. Karl is glad that I was dealing with Korbin on this deal because it would have cost HIM a lot more money.

Re: 2 for 1, My son's first Square Build
Well baseball is now over for us. Maybe this week we might make some progress. This weekend is being spent on the lake! Korbin got a new wakeboard as an early birthday present.
Have a great Memorial Day! We are greatfull for all of the troops, both past and present! Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: 2 for 1, My son's first Square Build
hey guys, its korbin, sorry its been so long, but i need help... i got all of the bolts holding the bed off and if i had the man power, i could get it off. my truck is out in the backyard, so using an engine hoist would be really difficult, but not impossible since the backyard is level. any ideas? b/c i'm not very big at all only 5 ft nothing and 90 lbs (yeah im 14) i want to start working on the rear suspension so.... i need to get the dang bed off, any ideas?
|
Re: 2 for 1, My son's first Square Build
Do you have any ratchet straps? If so, tie them crossways across the bed, and put the hoist where they cross (left front to right rear, right front to left rear). That should work.

Re: 2 for 1, My son's first Square Build
You could get some of your buddys and your dad to help you left it off or if you have 4 jacks stands and some blocks jack it up and put the bed on the stands and push the truck off from the bed, just some ways of doing it but you could use the hoist to...

Re: 2 for 1, My son's first Square Build
Hey, I'm from Mesquite. Y'all's football team just about shattered my knee this past season. Had me benched for the rest of the season, and off my feet 'til almost Christmas, lol. Anyway, nice little project y'all have going here. Kind of similar to what my dad and I are doing. Looking forward to what y'all end up with...subscribed.

Re: 2 for 1, My son's first Square Build
madmanandrew spring hill did that to you? cuz we r just a buncha little white guys runnin around like chickens with our head cut off...
dusty4x4 i like your idea sounds fairly simple Jonboy what are ratchet straps? remember i'm learning haha |
Re: 2 for 1, My son's first Square Build
i feel like an idiot for not knowing what ratchet straps were, and yeah we have a bunch, i may even be able to get by with chains with towels to protect the body.
double post sorry |
Re: 2 for 1, My son's first Square Build
Nope, Longview high school, the Lobos, right? Real nice stadium built into the hillside? I don't even know who Spring Hill is, never played 'em. I went for a tackle right about the 50 and the kid with the ball dived for the first down...straight into my knee:waah: Btw, I would go ratchet straps, not chains, chains do nasty things no matter what you do.

Re: 2 for 1, My son's first Square Build
This is Korbin's Dad.
Biggest issue that Korbin has not mentioned is that the truck has no wheels/tires to roll it out from under the bed once it is up in the air. Looks like I might have to loan him something to make this happen. We will see when I get home tonight. Spring Hill is a small 3A school district on the north side of Longview. |
Re: 2 for 1, My son's first Square Build
That could be a problem lol...
|
Re: 2 for 1, My son's first Square Build
korbin again, i knew that i didn't have tires, but i knew that i could get my hands on wheels, and plywood;) i think i'm going to combine the ratchet strap/ engine hoist idea sometime soon.
