All i did tonight was paint the firewall, Looks great. Turned out exactly how i wanted it to. Now to try and not screw it up during the rest of the build.

Re: 1960 chevy parkwood wagon!
Great to see a body colored firewall,... And not black.

Hopefully it looks really great when i pop the hood, nice original patina all over the body and a really fresh engine bay. |

pulled the seats and vinal floor. Left rear pan was done by previous owner, and a really poor repair on the left front. I have 3 high quality floor pans for the front and right rear. The rust is not really very bad and the new floor pans will take care of it nicely.

There is a big swap meet in town this weekend. Went looking for a few small things and ended up finding a deal on a brand new set of riddler wheels 18-20". I had a good set of continental tires sitting around so I took them to the shop and mounted up for a test fit. I am loving them and cant wait to see the car laid out!!

Re: 1960 chevy parkwood wagon!

last one for the weekend. Just took the rear end out, and found a nasty looking drive shaft. I already have a slip yolk rear shaft and billet carrier bearing from cpp, but I will need to have the front shaft re made. I will call a place here local in the morning.

Wheels are a great find for your car, nice break you caught there. |
Re: 1960 chevy parkwood wagon!
Wow! You did a great job replacing that floor pan. Did you butt weld the edges or is the pan lapped onto the original floor pan. I have tried to butt weld all the floor pan replacement I have done but I don't know if it is worth it/as strong.
Also those wheels are awesome. I wish I could find a good deal like that. |

The joints are overlapped. on some other panels i will butt joint it, but in this case i felt it ok to just overlap, i will put a few welds on the bottom side then brush on a good dose of seam sealer. |
Re: 1960 chevy parkwood wagon!
Great build thread. I have a '59 bel air 2 door that I am slowly working on. It needs complete floor pans and trunk and the toe board off the firewall. Strangely enough my inner and outer rockers and rear 1/4s are in great shape.
I'm looking forward to hearing your reviews on the rack and pinion. I'm on the fence with one in my car. They seem to have mixed reviews for x-frame chevys. |

My rockers are perfect, only thing this car needs is floors. and the outer lower corners of the rear doors have spots. The rack kit looks like very high quality. I could not go wrong with it because all of my steering system was trash, and i had no pump hoses etc. I also did not want to buy a new radiator to clear the bigger p/s box. I also got summit to price match and i think i only paid $1050 for the whole kit. The only thing it does not included is a belt and fluid! I will update more on the rack kit after its installed. |

Got the axle housing stripped down. The gears and bearings appear to be in god condition so i am going to run them for now. They are 3.08 and will probably get changed out after i drive it a while to better perform with the 700r4 overdrive. Rear end will get all resealed and the disc brakes installed.

Got a little more done. All the rear ride tech strong arms are installed and have to say they are extremely nice parts. Installed the air bags and brackets with them.
Cut out the one remaining floor pan section and prepped for the new pan to go in. |
