Atomic Orange. It's a 2008 GM color used on Corvette, etc.

Very cool build, I like it. This also made me think of a C20 6x6 build. lol, it just might be possible.

Re: 66 Tandem Stepside

Wow I can't believe this build has drug out so long, but life goes on as they say. BUT I have begun work on it again. Picked up where I left off probably two years ago now it seems. The bed itself and right side rear fender are basically done with body work and the left side rear fender is getting there quickly. I've got the next two weeks off from work for CHRISTmas so hopefully I can get some work done.

The goal for the next two weeks, finish all of the bed and have it ready for paint. Complete the rear airbags, driveshafts etc. hopefully maybe even get a gas tank mounted and plan for additional air tanks. I also need to body work the cab and doors again, I'm not happy with it right now so the entire truck will get new paint. There is still a little waviness on the back of the cab under the window and in the doors. Since I painted the front half, I've invested in a good set of Durablocks so my body work should reflect that investment. I find myself using the 3 ft block quite a bit on this bed :).

As you'll remember, I put RE7 bags in the frontend and those things are great. I went cheap on the back end and now I find out once again you really do get what you pay for. I installed the bag mounts on the forward axle a couple of nights ago so the truck sits on it's own suspension for the first time and the dang bags leak down 100% overnight. The RE7's in the front wont loose anything sitting inflated for months. BIG difference in quality, so now I've got another $400 in new bags for the rear to invest in also. It figures.

My stretch goal is to be 100% ready for paint again in the spring, all suspension and mechanical work basically completed, and this beast running and moving on it's own in the next 6 months. She probably wont be 100% compete (glass, rubber, details), but 95% is the goal before summer. I'll be posting pics of progress occasionally so stick around. I can't wait.

I really want to add this one to the low buck build threads. It looks so awesome and honestly truly unique. It's nice to see some out of the box builds. So what are the plans for wheels? Big inchers or custom 60's style? I've got to know. I could see this thing supporting fender skirts, thin whites and Astros or some Caddy style caps, lol. I can't believe I missed this one but I'm here now. Please keep the updates coming.

For low cost my first thought was painted steelies and some rings and centers but I think a set if 18's would really look good and be more in line with today's styles.

And hidden latch's for the tailgate. I got those, poly trunions, and "CHEVROLET"tailgate decal so I can bury the lettering under the clear coat.

Finally some additional progress on this thing. Drivelines are in and ordered Chromalloy axle shafts for the offset axle this morning. I may still be walking funny next week.
