Ok I joined your site rare86. Didn't have time to check it out yet.
I'm going take some better pics soon, those came out darker than I thought
they would have.

Now that you say that JohnC I think you're right about the tailgate being an
88-98. It's a little bit too smooth for me, I might put a 88-98 tailgate band
on it to break it up.

Yeah I was looking at that dually the other day, looks kinda rough for what they are asking.

Sorry to be neglecting this thread. I have been reading the comments (from my Blackberry) and I have been wondering what extended crewcab shortbed everyone was talking about. Duuh! Its the one boy genius here put on from Dallas. Just to clarify, its not technically a true shortbed. They are a little shorter in the front than a shortbed, and the tail end is the same as a longbed. It can be chopped off at the end and have shortbed quarters on it, or shorten a short bed and drop in on. The dually fendershelp make them look better in my opinion because they distract from the length. I posted a few pics for comparison.
I havent talked to the guy yet, but I will try today and report back if I can get in touch with him.

Most Fords were done by Centurian Conversions, the also made the 4 door Bronchos, and Cruisers. Still possible that CVI or Stage Coach made a few Fords. No one has shown documents to prove different,

I actually talked to him for quite awhile on the phone. He said the pics on craigslist that we all see is from the junk yard when it was stolen. He lost his job many months ago and doesn't have the funds to fix the excrewcab dually. I never got any pics that he said he would send.

Its kinda gloomy around here because of the number of people without work. Lots of nice projects sitting, and many being sold for ridiculously low prices just so people can keep their houses. Its turning around, but very slowly. I wish the best for him.

Any more info on that red and black truck? How much are they asking?

Kaysenmc 02-07-2010 03:38 PM

Re: Square body extended cabs

He just wants 2500 for it which is what he paid for it about 2 or 3 years ago. He hasn't put 500 miles on it in that time. It is pretty decent as is but needs a full repaint, and interior to be really nice. It has the original 305/350 trans. Some of the bondo has cracked off where the extended cab shell was blended in also, but I saw no rust at all.
the main reason I didn't buy it was I really wanted a black 87, and I just didn't have the tools, time, or place to put a regular swb on it.

Re: Square body extended cabs

Id sure like to have some more info on that red/blakc truck. I have several looking for one, and may be able to help him sell it. I just want more pics, including the interior for my records. I believe that one is a Stage Coach conversion. If it is, it shuold have the puffy interior trim around the windows. The rear windows are too narrow for the normal CVI conversions.

Thanks, I dont know everything about them, but have been looking for them for about three years now, and my website helps locate more, but not near as many as you guys on these forums. Im in Texas and its hard to find them when they are scattered all over the country. Thats where you guys are a great asset to my research. I learn more and more everyday thanks to all of you. I have three, so the hands on physical aspects of how they were built is easy, Im just trying to locate as many as possible. I hope eventually to have the vin numbers of all I find so I can maybe put a little more of the history together, like were any consectutive vin numbers, did they come from a certain plant before they were converted, and which dealers sold more of them. I have since located a guy that worked for a dealer that sold a few. He thinks he may still have some literature on them, I can only hope.

rare86 have you ever talked to the guy Andy listed in that ad? His name is Andy Wooten and he has a used truck lot here in Cypress (near Houston). I know he has had atleast two of these trucks if not more. I talked to him about one several years ago. He is a really nice guy, and I don't think he would mind sharing what he knows about them.

I live near there also. The brown extended cab has been on his lot for about three years that I can remember. I have seen it on Craigslist a couple of times now also.

Re: Square body extended cabs

You are correct. I think you actually mentioned that before. He had another one several years ago that I looked at. It was pretty rough inside and out. This one appears to be pretty clean. Maybe I will drop by this weekend and visit with Andy.
