Well i wanted to do four patches today...Both fenders and the cab corners....I failed......My flange and punch tool died and i only completed the one fender which was paint cuz i couldnt fully flange or punch it...So i used pliers and made do......Spot welding didnt happen much but with some grinding and finding bondo i got it done....So now it just needs some bondo to smooth it out and fix a few lil holes/gaps

SAFETY FIRST!! LOL

are the speakers in your kick panels hooked up? how do they sound?

JRANGER 04-08-2012 11:31 AM

Re: Project 78 High Sierra

They are hooked up and sound amazing! Only prob is it does get in the way of the e brake.....But that also could be because mine are bowed out ever so slightly on the bottom due to some welds

After soap and water, drying, and hitting it will alcohol I hit it with 4 coats of Eastwood Self Etching black primer......Has a few spots Ill need to hit with a small bit of bondo and then i can get a lil sanding in before I hit it will some more sandable primer....

Notice all the paint dust on my house? This thing had 2 - 3 different coats of paint on it...sheesh.....The under side will just be rust repair and nothing special

Took a wire wheel to the rusty part of the underside....It created some holes that im probably going to gill with bondo just to keep it smooth and strong as the area is way to thin to just patch weld..... Either way I hit it with some Krylon Rust Tough afterwards.....

Ok used my new Paint removal disc (http://www.roarksupply.com/product-p/4.5cleanstrip.htm) i stripped down the fender...found a few small holes that where bondo over and got it to bare metal....

Pounded out a bit of a dent and then cleaned it up. Hit it with 2 coats of self etching primer before I ran out. Then I hit it with 2 coats of sandable primer...

Now that its flat black I can see all the divits and low spots so ill do a lil bondo to smooth it out and prime it some more

CAN SOMEONE TELL ME IF THE EMBLEM TAKE 1 or 2 HOLES??? There are 2 normal holes but one was bondo over and im not sure if i need it for the emblem

Thanks

Re: Project 78 High Sierra

Yes you need both holes. Should be about eight inches apart or so.

Well driving to work a saw a square that is setup the way I plan mine to look in the end...The only difference is the white will be black on mine...

Not a bad looking truck except once up close you can tell how bad of a paint job dude did...Its was a bit cloudy so you can tell he did a bad rattle can job...Either way...

Had to check out your build! I haven't looked at too many of the square builds on the site yet. Been looking for ideas on my 70, but I am now subscibed! Some great work on your part! Nice job on the body work! and the interior looks great. Subscribed!

Thanks man!!! I feel pretty good about it since Ive never done any work like this and for that matter im a computer geek so its not like im even a mechanic or body guy.... Learning is the best part of this process and this board has been more then helpful in this process

I have alot of respect for you northern guys that are repairing the rust yall have to deal with, I swapped my cab 3 times until I got one that only needs cab corners, and im still complaining

That paint job should look pretty interesting, I've never seen that before.
