Looks like a good start. Like the look of the 4x4 SWB. Any more progress?

Re: Dream '69

Haven't worked on it much this summer, just too hot out in the shop. I have been getting all the fittings together for my fuel lines, and I have my tank permanently mounted up now. Next step is getting the bumper on and fabbing up the fuel filler behind the plate. Need to start working on it more but its huntin' season now.

Truck cab is going to paint in just a few days, I will post some pics soon. Work is continuing on the chassis, but its all small detail stuff that doesn't really show up good in a picture. Plumbing the underbed tank and the rest of the fuel system. Will be starting on installing the Heartthrob exhaust soon. That should be interesting.

These are to show how tight the tank fits to the leaf spring hangers. If you have a shortbed with leaf springs this is a good under bed tank install.

I have an issue with the exhaust on the passenger side. I am going to have to take the intermediate pipe down the exhaust shop and have a joggle put into it get up and over the T-case cross member.

Got the cab back on the frame today and installed the core support, radiator and shroud. Ordered a flexible stainless radiator hose kit and once I get that installed I can run the engine.

Started cutting the dash for the ac vents. As you can see, I failed to do this before the cab was painted, so I have been dreading this step. I used the template that was supplied with the Old Aire kit and marked the cut out. I then drilled all around the perimeter with a 1/2 inch drill bit. Then I used a nibbling tool to remove the remaining metal right up to the mark. Finally, I smoothed the edge with a file.

I went with the Old Aire kit. It seemed to have mor options for using factory style controller, vents, etc. but I think the Vintage unit is good too and the cost is about the same.

Looking good. Thanks for the info as i felt the same way. I ordered my old air kit and started to mock up the mounting plates on the inside without the outside black plate.

Re: Dream '69

Nice build

While your under the dash with the ac install you might want to consider adding a ac override switch to turn the compressor on with the heat function. I find the kit in our suburban is not able to defog the inside with out the ac on and in fall spring temperature I need heat not ac !

Quick question.
If you set to defrost with and the temp control to warm or hot air the compressor does not come on??

Right, the comp only operates when you select cold air on the temp control unless you add an override switch as 72Mario recommends. With the a/c running the air will be drier which makes the defroster work better.
