I got tired and enlisted the wifey:

She's better at this than I am.

Gonna get that trim goop off soon too, I think I have some goo gone somewhere around the shop. Looks much better though.

Also assembled my new pressure washer, tomorrow I'm gonna throw my window back together and then Friday morning as soon as I get in I'm going to pull my bed off and leave it on the lift while I pull the truck out and spray the crap out of the suspension and frame.

I just removed that paint protection/rock gaurd film on mine a couple weeks back. Looked just about like yours... i did one, then took a few days off, then did the other. On the 2nd one, i jacked up the truck as high as i could get it and sat on a bucket. Much better on the back! I used that same exact wonder wheel, works great if you have a little patience!

You are supposed to be able to use that on that trim tape too -- but i've always scraped with plastic and goo gone/goof off the rest.. it kinda looks like you tried it and it smeared it around?

lookin good!

You sound like a man who's done this before

Yep, that's precisely what happened.

Also, I'm bidding on a 5.3L 2002 Avalanche with 101k miles tomorrow. :metal:

Right? Now I just need a good drivetrain. Stupid avalanche went high. I don't really need it yet anyway, need to get my chassis and brakes sorted, but I was hoping the auction would be low volume due to the holiday and I could steal one.

Unrelated, but my mechanic just bought an insanely bright snap on light. Thought this pic was kinda cool.

http://i.imgur.com/nCPeZzLh.jpg

This was decidedly not cool at all. The old window channel had become a very brittle, hard plastic. I had to pick it out of the metal channel on the vent window piece by piece with a screwdriver, pick, and needle nose pliers. It took the better part of an hour.

http://i.imgur.com/U4tW2GCh.jpg

Here you can see what size pieces I was working with.

http://i.imgur.com/4MxnFMAh.jpg

Finally got it all out.

http://i.imgur.com/i8a7A4rh.jpg

And cleaned it out with brake cleaner to get the old sticky gunk out.

http://i.imgur.com/bnccl1Ch.jpg

I didn't take pics of the new window channel installed, but I was somehow out of lithium grease for the track, so it's still taken apart. I'll wrap that up tomorrow and if my work schedule cooperates, I'll pull the bed off and pressure spray everything to get ready for my suspension install.

Got my door put back together. I'm leaving the door panel off for a bit to do some cleaning on the stuff from it I'm going to reuse. I also want to take the carpet panel off and see how it is built so I can get my wifey to maybe make something up for me to replace the carpet.

http://i.imgur.com/qq0A80Eh.jpg

I blasted my window rollers and hood hinges and door hinges and basically everything else that moves with this. Some amazing stuff.

http://i.imgur.com/utccST8h.jpg

I also got my Yi cam out and found my head mount. I'm going to provide some first person video of the pressure washing tomorrow. Basically I needed an excuse to justify my action cam purchase.

http://i.imgur.com/FRsADLKh.jpg

Should post a pretty significant update tomorrow.

Oh yeah, i finally opened all my stuff from western chassis to find that they left out the shocks. I emailed to verify and got an email back really quickly saying it was their mistake and then a tracking number within minutes. Sucks that they forgot to ship them but they took care of it super fast.

Bed should be coming off tomorrow though, either way.

Re: 82 Silverado restomod - turbo LSx build

I didn't get to pressure wash today, but I'm going up to the shop tomorrow when we're closed so i can get that done before my shocks come in. Today I did a few things though.

Wifey did the other side of my wheel well, removing the old undercoating.

http://i.imgur.com/gg8vSnyh.jpg

I decided to go ahead and pull the dash pad, it's super far gone, and is going to have to be replaced. It keeps shedding old dry foam into the rest of the interior and it will be nice to have it out of the way when it's time for gauge wiring, so I started taking it out.

http://i.imgur.com/JrfLgIUh.jpg

http://i.imgur.com/g0EB93Oh.jpg

Got the bezel out:

http://i.imgur.com/VrB7aMOh.jpg

But I broke it down in the corner. It was already kinda butchered by the PO. Since I want a modern DIN sized stereo anyway, I think I'm going to just zip that part off with a cut off wheel and see what I can do to make it look decent. Worst case I'm in the same place I am anyway and have to buy a bezel.

How do you like that Yi camera? I'm looking at them, just don't want to spend the money on a Gopro...

I like it, especially for the money. Here's a fairly boring video I took when I first got it:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yr9YMyqz2bo

set the quality to 1080.

The weather won't cooperate with my desire to pressure wash things.

http://i.imgur.com/ir8F2hU.png

So I decided I would take more of interior apart. If I get some time before the end of the day I'm going to do some cleaning on it, and hopefully tomorrow I can get the pressure washing done, supposed to be 72 degrees.

Crusty dash pad is gone

http://i.imgur.com/oWQPk5Gh.jpg

I've almost hit the point where more of my interior is in the bed than in the cab.

I didn't really mean to start the motor swap but I really couldn't pass this up. I guess I need to get off my ass and get this thing rolling.

That a good deal. You can probably get a lot of money back when you part it out too

Now I just have to decide if I want to put the drivetrain in it as is so I can drive it around while I do brakes and suspension, or if I want to just go hardcore into getting the turbo on.

I was amazed I got it that cheap. I honestly think I'll make money.

Baby steps transfer it as is, it will still be a massive amount of work, well unless you have your Super Wife do it, than I'm guessing 2 maybe 3 hours if she does an oil change too, ha ha

Yep, cranked it up and drove it off the truck. Clean oil, clean coolant, no check engine light or anything.

Ha! She's due to have our daughter on the 7th so she might not be available for a day or so after that :D

Great score on the burb. It even has hydroboost brakes, that would make a great upgrade on the truck...I will be sending you a PM...

Cool build, just realized your in Memphis. I'm in Olive Branch and recently completed my LS swap. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=693824
Let me know if you have questions. Need help. Good luck with your build.

That was a nice grab on the Suburban and you'll have everything there to pull off yourself and transfer over yourself. Where did you come across that? Online? Congrats on the new addition. My wife was due on the 7th as well but things worked out a little different. Ours was born on the 3rd and we are getting discharged today to go home but little man has to stick around for a couple more days to get some extra care. Good luck with yours and hope everything goes well with wifey and the little one. Congrats!!!

And now I have something to read. I will definitely have questions, lol. What engine management are you using?
