Looks good. Wiring neatly sure does chew up time.
I'm running the same nostalgic shifter. I need to switch it over yet. I have been using a regular one for mock up.

Got the rad back from the rad shop for a test fit today. they put in a new modern 3 core and new bottom tank, I wanted to keep the top tank to look original. Needs one minor change on my part then they will test and paint. My dog CJ had to inspect the whole thing.

So test fit went well, changed the mounting a little and made my brackets to install the fan. It is back to the rad shop for them to finish up and paint. A few more little goodies came in the mail still waiting on the intercooler.

wait, what are they painting it? the whole thing? why paint that pretty thing?

Re: 1950? S-10 tdi

Ya they paint it black with a special paint to dissipate heat better and stop the copper from turning green.

Well some parts arrived I have been waiting on. I ordered the inter cooler mid January, mid February it got turned around at the border? and sent back to supplier. So I ordered another one from a different place and it showed up today :metal: The door seals I ordered December 7 and they showed up on Tuesday. Nothing like taking 4 months to get here, lets hope the seals work better than the ones on my other truck.

That's the idea. I have a similar size intercooler in my Jeep and seems to work well.

Well I'm finally back on the truck, spent 3 weeks helping my son work on his Jeep CJ6 it's almost ready for the road.
I got the intercooler mounted up used some of the packaging to help mock it up and the pipes run. It's going to work really nice.

Took the front clip apart to finish up a few things before the front end goes to get blasted. Now you can see the bumper support and front cross member.

So Saturday I took the fenders and rad support to to the sand blaster, should have them back in a week. I got all the brake lines run, cleaned up the motor, then I started putting power to the truck. I got the trans fan, heater, ignition, motor computer, glow plugs, head light circuit, starter, and gauges all hooked up and working. I just work a fuse at a time. Once all the wires are run it is going to end up nice and neat.

powder coat, damn ... is it worth the extra coin? i assume they do the heavy cleaning at least, so that's a time saver.

Ya it was sand blasted first then powder coat. Worked out cheaper than me buying gloss black paint for the few pieces that are going gloss black.

I'm needing to replace window channels as well. Also thinking of the vent window rubber as well. I see you have a complete, new assembly vent window. Is that for an easier installation or were your vent windows in poor condition. It appears the window channels are riveted through the window rubber which looks difficult to replicate?
Any tips are appreciated, thanks. And by the way, nice progress!

Yes new assembly. The doors I have only have cranks and latch parts. It is much easier to replace as one, but they are not cheap. I put new assembly's in my other truck and they have been working great for 5 years.
Sorry not much help.

sorry to hi-jack your thread, but when replacing the vent window rubber, you can make a cut on the INSIDE edge of the seal, where the swivel pin is.(don't cut all the way through, just to the hole for the swivel pin) This will then allow you to install the new rubber without removing the window and only leave a seam on the inside of the window.... make sense?

It was a big Weekend! Friday night I got the truck fired up with the key, it had it's own fuel tank and cooling, the alternator even worked and everything lol.
Then Saturday I bled the brakes P.I.T.A. and Sunday I drove it out of the shop under it's own power and got it all warmed up. Then today I got the reverse switch brackets made and mounted.

Way to go! You've built something very unique, very cool,
You're going to love driving that rig, puff your chest out a little and give yourself a pat on the back! Nice job!

VW (and the State of CA) basically forced up to surrender our 2012 Passat TDI; When i see these conversions i wonder if one could be the engine from ours. When i think back about it the engine (55mpg!!) was the best part of that car.

4" wow I could put the whole turbo in the 4" lol. If I was keeping the truck that would be a very good possibility tho.
