Also can you shoot be a price for black Wilwood D52 calibers and the black drilled and slotted rotors?

I'm thinking of using these spindles in case I want to upgrade to bigger brakes in the future.

Thanks, Nate

Hey Justin,

So just as nds1968 said, I'm also planning on going with the Wilwood 14" d52 BBK(except with Red Calipers).

Could you send me a quote on this set up, including the correct CPP Spindle I would need?

I may do the spindles first then add the Wilwoods later.

Thanks!

Hey Justin,

will these spindles work with a big baer brake upgrade? I'm needing to bring my wheels in a bit but don't want to buy a narrower tire.

Dan you will have to go with the cpp modular drop spindal and Bear brakes does have a caliper bracket they make that will bolt to the cpp modular spindal. Now check your p/m box for the price

Re: CPP Drop Spindle Special

quick question...so what is the difference in size between the ball joints of the 63-70, 71-72, 73-87?

Scottshotrods 04-09-2012 10:35 AM

Re: CPP Drop Spindle Special

The difference in the BJ on the

63-70 taper being the smallest

71-72 taper is bigger than the 63-70

73-70 taper being the biggest out of all of them

Justin

The tapers are different

Re: CPP Drop Spindle Special

I know that but what do each one measure to know which spindles they are when you run into some.

Re: CPP Drop Spindle Special

Reason I ask is because I have two sets of drop spindles but don't know what they fit. I was hoping maybe by determining the size of the bj I could figure that out. I know the bottom taper hole is 7/8" and then it tapers.

We dont measure spindles like that here, we have fit parts that we measure these spindles with. If you want to determine what spindles you have i will give you all the parts numbers as followed to run down to your parts store and determine what you have. Keep in mind its not just the ball joints but the outter tie rod tapers are different also

1963-70 upper balljoint fa480 lower fa481 outer tierod es350-L
1971-72 upper balljoint fa683 lower fa1014 outer tierod es415-r
1973-88 uper balljoint fa903 lower fa1014 outer tierod es409r

Hope this helps, there is no easy way to measure these, fit parts will give you the answer. Thanks

I have a 63 with a raised crossmember and DJM drop spindles SSBC 1.25" brakes for a 73-87. Will the CPP spindles bring the wheels in more for some extra fender clearance? Are they 2.5" drop?

YES! This is the biggest perk of this spindle as no other spindle in the country moves the wheels inboard 3/4" of an inch per side.....:metal:

You can as it moves the wheels in 3/4" of an inch per side against the factory drum brakes.

Scottshotrods 05-03-2012 02:17 PM

Re: CPP Drop Spindle Special

This also add here that all of Cpp dropped spindals they make for these trucks will move the wheel in 3/4 per side.

Cool. Now I just have to measure and see if my truck would still lay out with a 2.5" spindle instead of the 3" I'm using now.
