I got back on the K10. I got the fenders sanded today. No rust at all under the battery.

We got the kids pool finished, the wife's garden is producing, the 55 is in paint jail, so I finally got back on the K10 this week. I painted two different air cleaners, multiple times and still don't have one I am satisfied with. I'll be out next week, so it will probably still look like this 10 days from now.

Re: Arkansas K10
Looking good my friend. l can respect a man who goes for max belts.

I have the core support powder coated and a couple of radiators, new and rebuilt, ready, fan and clutch restored, and I am going to start the engine when I get those set in place. |
Re: Arkansas K10
Nice work. I have a lot of admiration for guys like you, Pete, and Iron Canine that kill these kill it on these kinds of builds. Maybe one day at a different stage of life I’ll have the time to pull one off like this.

Re: Arkansas K10
Glad you are keeping the AIR equipment - I thought I was flying solo in the folly of doing so :)

LOL, my dad bought a new 68 C10 with A.I.R., and traded it for a new 69 because he could get the 69 without A.I.R.. Of course I am taking some liberties from the SPID, such as tilt column, AM/FM and extreme bend hooks. I cheated with the dual exhaust, 3 point harness and I may add cruise control just because I have one. |
Re: Arkansas K10
I'm headed out to meet an old friend about painting the K10. Fingers crossed.
|
Re: Arkansas K10
Wish you luck. Hope it goes well. Getting completes done where I am is very difficult. No one wants to do them.
|
Re: Arkansas K10
Well that fell through, sort of. My 55 210 has been in paint jail for a couple of months. My friend wants to do it instead. I will take what I can get.
The shop the 55 is at, indicated they would rather do the truck anyway. FWIW, I am creating a backup plan for painting the truck. I have a shop I have been using for storage. It is set up for air and has water. I just need to install a compressor and I will paint the truck myself. Oh yeah, I need a refrigerator for beer. |
Re: Arkansas K10
Go for it!
|
Re: Arkansas K10
Nice plan Larry, I’m confident you’ll get them both looking great!
|
Re: Arkansas K10
So, you painting the truck is the backup plan if the shop falls through
|
Re: Arkansas K10
The fridge is a must have item.....I think your plan sounds great.
|
Re: Arkansas K10
Let's say the plan for paint is fluid.
The owner of the shop that has been doing my paint for the last several years is encouraging me to use their shop and paint the truck. My 55 goes out there tomorrow. My friend that came in from NC to paint the 55 is starting on it tomorrow in that shop. |

The sheet metal on this truck is pretty doggone nice.
Notice the mismatch in the rocker. |
Re: Arkansas K10
That metal is sick Larry...you devil. Good luck on the musical paint booths. Don't let this truck get locked up though. I am anxious to see it done!!!

Yeah I’d tear that rocker off and fix it :)

I have been struggling with the rocker thing. I have NOS replacements, and we all know how prone they are to rust through. |
Re: Arkansas K10
Just kidding - primer, paint, drive

I primed the cab floor.

Re: Arkansas K10
Spicey!! I like it.
|
Re: Arkansas K10
I like it too....looks great.
|
Re: Arkansas K10
Nice! That rotisserie has to come in handy big time, working on the bottom of my cab was the single biggest pain in the ass my truck has given me to date.
|
Re: Arkansas K10
Looks really good, nice rotisserie
|
Re: Arkansas K10
We built that rotisserie twenty years ago in our shop. I have new jacks for vertical adjustment that are still in the box.
|
Re: Arkansas K10
Looking good Larry!! It’s about time to get moving on a few things with temps in the 80’s. I have been slacking lately when it’s above 90 degrees. This is gonna be a SHARP truck.

Looking beyond good. Nothing on my project will ever compare but I'm gonna drive the snot out of it nontheless - when I get it road worthy.

It's a rainy nasty day here today.
The cab is ready for the last prime and sand, I think. It seems every time I go over it I find another blemish. I bolted a few more pieces on the chassis. |
Re: Arkansas K10
Wow, just pristine! The truck is looking awesome, and tomorrows weather promises to be the same!!
|
Re: Arkansas K10
Nice, very nice!
|
Re: Arkansas K10
Larry that looks terrible. Terribly fantastic!
|
Re: Arkansas K10
Great work as always. Any goals/target dates?
|
Re: Arkansas K10
Love it Larry. Looks awesome my friend.
