guide plates and studs installed, loctited and torqued
all rockers installed, valves adjusted. have to get new valve covers, ones I have won't clear the rockers, even with the baffle ripped out lol |
Re: My new project 86 Silverado
got the flexplate to crank bolts, they sent me 5 bolts and 6 washers lol. had to call them to send me another bolt, duh
|
Re: My new project 86 Silverado
got the bolt they shorted me in the mail, I'll get that in and torque the flexplate today, have some more engine accessory and other small items I need to paint.
called about the rear window replacement, 230.00 for window, rubber, and install. so it will be right at 500 for just the front/rear glass. I haven't got a quote for side windows yet, and my vent window frames are rusted out. anyone know who makes the most affordable replacement vent windows/frames? |
Re: My new project 86 Silverado
flexplate on, I'm going to be gathering up the last few items for the engine, bolts, oil filter adapter etc. etc.
I have all the gaskets, but I'll need new valve covers before I can button it up making progress pics soon |
Re: My new project 86 Silverado

been paying for this Pontiac 400 stroked to 468 since 2013, I have 1400.00 more to go.
this one has a hyd roller cam instead of a flat tappet like the olds, eagle rotating assembly, 988 block, 6x heads, comp cam, roller rockers, performer intake, tuned quadrajet, double roller timing chain, high volume pump etc. etc. pretty nice motor for the price initially was going to use this in my truck, I'll probably swap the olds 455 to this one when I finally get it paid for... built by Jim Lehart at http://centralvirginiamachine.com he's pretty much the Pontiac guru updates/pics once it's paid off |
Re: My new project 86 Silverado
been raining for an f'ing week... not much done with the truck...
but all engine accessories painted. waiting on tall valve covers to finish assembly... updates/pics soon |

going with these headers for my build...
http://noxiouscustoms.com/stubbies.html along with header buddies... anyone ever used them? http://www.headerbuddy.com/ez-catalog/X336169/23 and stainless flex pipes... http://www.headerbuddy.com/ez-catalo...69/19/FLX3010N |
Re: My new project 86 Silverado
Are you sure they will fit? I always thought Cutlass headers with some tweaks fit?
Cool video on how they are made, yet they wont help in any HP goals. Too short. Probably better than crusty old stock manifolds. ;) The collectors are very similar to what Ford has done for years, should work great. |
Re: My new project 86 Silverado
hey man, hope all is well...
I think they'll fit, I've thought about the cutlass headers, I've seen a couple sets on lowered trucks like mine with an Olds 350/403/455 swapped in place of the 350 olds diesel... man they're low to the ground... I may change my mind, but I'm not really worried about getting every ounce of horsepower out of my truck, its a daily driver, so they'll more than suffice, either these or Hedman shorties... |
Re: My new project 86 Silverado
anyone besides me praying for payday? I need parts!!! lol
