I'll update tonight. I've got one side bout done. The sander is awesome! Should have gotten that thing a LONG time ago.

Looks like I've been missing out. You've done a lot of work and it's looking good. I'll be following from here on. I wish I had a shop that big!

Thanks for dropping by! I've been through a bit of your build but not quite done yet. Nice looking truck!

Very nice! :metal::metal:oh how many times I wish I would have popped for one of those. That should make it a lot easier for the big flat areas on the bed. I swear I have used a mile of that rolled sandpaper on my truck. Pretty much skim coated every panel then sanded 99% off on to the floor.

It's shocking how much sandpaper and supplies it takes when you do all the panels on these trucks.

Did you say what your plans are for the motor? Sorry if I missed it.

Looking forward to more updates soon.

I would recommend this thing to anyone doing more than a few panels. It's not a finish tool but it gets you really close in a hurry. No longer worry so much about how flat you lay your filler on or them berms you make when you overlap with your spreader. Also, after your filler hardens there's always that slick, hard "glaze" to it that's a drag to cut through with the block - easy peasy now! I'd say that with this and a very small amount of hand blocking I'll be able to epoxy it. I'm sure there will be lots of places that need more filler but they'll be small. Guide coat will tell. I dunno about the paper I got - "Dura-Gold". I'm using P80 and it seems to clog up quicker than I'd think it should. Still kicks-arse, but seems that the best sandpaper always says 3M or Made in Canada.

I've got an old small journal 327 with it's forged crank and camel hump heads. Plan now is to zero deck, cool pistons and rods, roller cam, single plane (painted), painted headers, script covers with no holes, Holley, snorkel filter housing, filler tube with PCV provisions, HEI with mods for a bit more RPM. This is what I really want. ZERO chrome and plain-Jane but making real power past 6500. Kind of a Z28 theme with my Muncie and 15's/poverty caps with white letters on 50's. Dual fours under a single snorkel filter housing??? - would that be *****in or what!? On the other hand - Vortec 5.7 (383 of course).

Got some new lights in the work room:metal:
New ride for Wifey:metal:
And I'm going outside to work on the bed:metal:

The shop is drama for me. It's an awesome building with way better concrete than you'd expect. Lots of room. I'm moving though. We kind of got forced into this place because the clock was ticking. We had five kids under the roof four years ago and in another couple years we'll be down to one. I want to be further in the woods. I'd really like to deck it out, but not just for the next owner. It's almost as hard as planning a truck build and sticking to it!

Killer progress on the bed! You are where I was on my bed last fall. Looks like the new air file works great. I have that on my shopping list.
Keep up the progress

Re: My '67 Fleetside C10 renew

Thanks dudes! Wifey hopped in her new ride and went to see her Momma so I've got tonight and this weekend to get busy! I got one side whipped last night and picked up some more filler and epoxy today. After just a little practice I've got the sander figgered out good and MAN I wouldn't do it again without one. You don't just lay into it with this thing. Kinda like taking short bursts and leaving it just a little high. Then take your hand block and feather it out. WAY, WAY faster and very flat. I've got a pair of 110V compressors set up as lead-lag and the second one rarely even kicks on. If you hammered down it'd kill the both of them. I'm going to do all I can to get this thing sealed up on Sunday.

Oh, and I should retract my previous comment on the Dura-Gold paper. I've only changed it out like 4 times and lemme tell ya, there's some dust on the floor!

Too bad you live so far away, John. I'm sure you could get a bunch of offers to let you practice on OPS (other people's stuff) ...starting with me! ;)

I have a feeling you'll be able to do yours with nothing but a Scotchbrite! I've been through a gallon can Evercoat and three tubes of Halftime. Just picked up number four. I'm sure I've swept up about 80% of that

I'm humbled and thanks! We were just talking about C-9 last night. Still don't know exactly how I want to do the white top or if I'll do the white grille like you did.

I've been at it since early this morning. Couple trips to town in there but otherwise to the bone. Just came in to eat then I'm headed back out. Made the rookie mistake, didn't want to drive down town for Half Time so I got a bucket of Bondo brand bondo at the jiffy mart. What an idiot! The stuff takes longer than Archie Bunker to get hard then still just instantly clogs the paper. Dunno if I'll get any primer out tomorrow  I've done a jillion cycles - filler, sand, filler, sand, filler, sand.... and still have plenty to touch. I didn't open any gearboxes in here but the house is wasted. I gotta get the stink outta here before Wifey gets home.... Brats are burning, will report with some photos tomorrow!
