Lacquer thinner would work, but you have to be really careful, otherwise you'll end up taking off more paint than you want to. How I've done this sort of thing is let the paint dry real good and then sand the paint off the tops with a sanding block. Of course the tips will no longer be polished. You might try combining the two and use a lacquer thinner dampened rag wrapped around a block of wood.

Thanks for the advice. I was thinking of using lacquer thinner. It's got some power. If it done work, I'll consider the sanding block.

She's a little pickier than me and she's not afraid to grab a wrench or some sandpaper and get in there. I'm really excited about seeing this one come together....

must be a woman thing huh?
My wife is holding me to a higher standard also :metal:

Well, I grew a set and painted a set of valve covers last night. I was a little nervous to take these brand new v/c's out of the box and start spraying them, but it went well. Lacquer thinner and patience is all you need. I'm pretty happy with the result. What do you think?

Thanks!

You are correct, sir. That's a pool table/parts storage shelf. We need to get these trucks together so we can start using that again.

Wow, your rates are about half of what I expected. I figured it would cost at least a case or more. That is the going rate here in Arizona. To bad Your so far away.

 See? This is the danger of too many pictures. The photo-hounds start making comments about your non-truck stuff. Pretty soon they're inviting themselves over for dinner and never bother to bring any beer.

A little progress is better then nada! Yesterday I painted the air cleaner top to match the v/c's. :ito:

I need to bring the truck to town so we can progress a little faster on this project. The weather's finally getting nice and it would be nice to get my woman's truck in driving condition...:chevy:
