I need to post mine but I dont think I have any pictures on my work computer. Mine is black block, natural heads "smoothed" yellow truck intake yellow valve covers with a partial cover on the intake...

Yeller is looking pretty sanitary as it is! Any color combo is going to POP dude. I say you've already got the gray, so that with some yellow accents.

No offense to the guys that have orange or red enginnes in a yellow truck but it looks too McDonalds McEngine to me. But my tastes are more conservative.

PS. Ignore my Jimmy. ;)

Looking at the pics of the engine compartment of the truck, I don't think I'd do orange on it. I like the orange in a mostly stock engine bay, which all of mine have been, semi-gloss black core support, inner fenders and underside of the hood. But you've got a lot of yellow in there, so I think I would either go with the gray that you already have or black like it was originally, similar to the small block it has in it now. Then paint the cover yellow and then either polish the valve covers or just paint them yellow while you're painting the cover.

This is the thought I was having. I'm an orange engine guy by nature, but, ehhhh.....

This is pretty much the plan, except for polishing the covers. Too much on top of them for me to keep up the polish. Shiny paint, wipey wipey, done!:smoke:

Gonna bounce early this afternoon to get some more parts! Picked up a fuel injection release tool yesterday, so we'll see what happens!

So, got off work early on a very pretty day and ran by HF for more tools for the jump box, then hit the yards! Long story short, got the bolts for the motor mounts, some other misc stuff, and this-

Yes that's the whole fuel system from a '00 Silvy, in one piece.

Allll together!

Then, came home, did some chores, and had to run some stuff out to Flyin' Ryan's. Here's why we call him Flyin' Ryan.
Attachment 1246613

Yes, that's a YFZ400, with a gsxr750 engine, trans, harness, and dash.
Attachment 1246615

He's been to a GPS verified 108mph with more left. I saw him wheelieing by the house at 50+. I got it to 73. Warning: it makes you giggle like a little girl. Damn that thing hauls the freight!:metal:

Yikes! Just the kind of thing Wifey likes

Sweet score on the fuel lines! How much re-work ya think to get that into Yeller? Suppose it's metric sized tubing??

Well, Saturday was a bust....kinda. Been having some weather, MX track was supposed to be open on Sat., but we were on hold due to rain. So, I waded into the rollaways and de-crapped and put stuff into boxed storage, and re-organized. MUUUCH better.:metal:

Then, we were bored. so, Yeller's longtime followers will note we bought a HF blast cabinet, and got so damn busy we never assembled it! So, The Kid got all motivated and he and I got busy after dinner and got it assembled. Till 1045 last night. The whole time I was hacked off at myself for not getting more off the gift of the Silverado that I found. Soooo...

Got up and was at PNP when they opened. Got unmolested Trans lines, Torque convertor bolts, and other odds and ends and clips. Took right at an hour. You really get your money's worth out of Sunday when you get up early and get movin'! Hopin' to get cleaned up and painted this week. Gratuitous pic for John-

Re: Old Yeller's new heart-5.3/4l60 swap!

Completely Unrelated (but joyous) Update!

Longtime followers may remember that we sent the radio out to have a bunch of groovy updates done to it. Supa custom and stuff... It worked grrreat, 'til you started the motor. BRRRRRRRRRRRR.... not turbo weeeee, BRRRRRRRR. So, I have a friend here at work that's a former electronics tech and a car guy and I conned him into coming over with his super groovy meters and stuff. So, we changed some ignition stuff, nuthin'. Changed some wiring stuff, nuthin'. Started pawing up under the dash, dead quiet. Then BRRRRRRR. "What'd you do?" "I don't know!" "Do it again!" All he did was squeeze the radio chassis' top. Hmmm. So we tore it all out.

Near as we can figure, there's a circuit board vertically installed with a bit of room between the top of the board and the insulating plastic sheet on the stock chassis, and it came loose from whatever socket it plugs into during shipping. Leading to loose connection, leading to BRRRRRRRRR. Took the lid off, poked and prodded, plugged it in, dead silent. Fired it up, dead silent. Plugged the Ipod in, silent. Hooked up the amplifier, dead silent.

Oh, and after months of fighting and desperation with ignition problems and carb problems, Neighbor Jay got the Sprint car running running last night. Not fire up and sputter and rev and hunt and burp and fart, but run smoothly. We're all pretty excited. Looks like we're goin' racin' this weekend!

So hey, it would appear that we finally fixed at least one of the mystery ills on this damn truck. Not LS related, but even a small victory is a victory, right?

So, whadda ya gonna do with the 300+ ground straps Vern rounded up at the P&P?

LOL! Lots of 'em are already on! Everybody kept saying "more grounds, check your grounds, grounds, grounds, grounds." Well, by God, it's grounded now! LS's need a ton of grounds anyway.

LOL! Pics of me not at baseball/mx track/working on Sprint car/working on MX bikes/Repairing deck roof before 1.5" of rain comes (that was last night)? You're right though. Mostly, I need pics of me off my considerable ass and takin' care of bidness! In other news, we broke 3, count 'em, 3, bikes at the MX track on Sunday. Which reminds me, I gotta call and source a tire. And get a carb kit for the mower we just put a head gasket in. It's like whack-a-mole 'round here!
