Re: Project ''Second Time Around''
This week I ordered a super-c-notch and spent Saturday welding it in. I spent a little more time and boxed the other side and ends.

I think that looks like crap so I raised it up to meet the frame. It also gave me an extra 3/8's of an inch. http://warp.scl.utah.edu/19723dr/Flame-85.jpg |

Re: Project ''Second Time Around''
Im loving your truck right now
Flames may be out of style but it still looks great to me In the future i want to bag my truck Have you thought about the kp industries bolt on four link for the rear? heard of a lot of OBS trucks using it on FSC and GMFS forums also have you heard anything about airbagit.com front lowering bag set up it comes with control arms and everything. My cousin has used them before when he was into bagging everything he owned ha |

I have looked at the KP 4 link kit it is a nice choice. I'm a ways away from that right now, but we'll see what the finances look like at the end of the summer. For right now I'm keeping the leaves minus one leaf I removed. I don't now much about Airbagit.com's front kits. All I know is you have to be careful what you order from them. Do lots of research.:smoke: |
Re: Project ''Second Time Around''
Busy weekend! I finished the drivers side Super-C-Notch. It's amazing how much faster the second one goes. I also fabed up a bridge and bag mounts. I used some old shelving braces and flat iron from a crash door. I tell my wife I'm going to use all this stuff I bring home off jobs for something. Most of the time she give me that look. See I used some of that junk.

Re: Project ''Second Time Around''
OK so you're wondering why not a bridge notch? I still want to use this as a truck, plain and simple. I put the bags over axle for the same reason. I really don't need to lift my azz end way up in the air.

Re: Project ''Second Time Around''
Long weekend. I spent some time running the rear air lines and cleaning the rest of the frame and rear end. I also cut the exhaust off the drivers side. I'm going to route it past the trany then Y into the cat. Started to weld the pipe, but ran out of wire. Saturday I bout some shackles for the rear. That should set the rear end on the bump stops. I still need to cut the center support out of the bed before I can put the bed back on.

Re: Project ''Second Time Around''
This weekend I cut the middle support out of the bed so that I could test fit the bed. The Notch sits right on the bed floor so the support is not needed. Everything fit pretty well. The beds not bolted down all the way, but you get the picture. I've also been working on rerouting the exhaust. The drivers side needs to go straight back and turn after the trans. I'm going to scrap the old cat and put in a high flow one and then to a three chamber muffler.

Re: Project ''Second Time Around''
Not much this weekend just put the 22's on for fun. These are not the wheels I am going to run, too big. I'm looking into a set of 20's. I like driving low and steering also. I originally bought these wheels for this truck, but they work much better on my Suburban.

Re: Project ''Second Time Around''
How do I even start this????
This has been one crappy week. So I was coming home from work on Monday in my black '98 RC SB and had stopped on the freeway behind idiots who where rubbernecking over an accident when a stupid freaking lady in a '99 Dodge Caravan rearended me doing 30 - 40 MPH. It threw me 15 - 20 ft into a Trailblazer. The Trailblazer took off and I find out the driver of the Caravan was uninsured. I'm not hurt too bad, although I was left with a stiff neck and a concussion. The truck's pretty banged up in the front, the rear bumper is folded underneath my bed and the bed came up and smacked the cab. And as a prize, I got some great pictures of my brain and spine. Right now I'm just waiting to get an estimate on the damage to my truck. I'm lucky that I carry uninsured motorist coverage because the owner of the Caravan has refused phone calls from the insurance company and as of this afternoon, disconnected their phone service; good thing State Police and the insurance company have their physical address. On the bright side, I should hopefully receive some insurance money to fix the truck--IF IT'S NOT TOTALED! So with some old parts and some money I should be able to put it back together. I'll post pictures at a later date. |
Re: Project ''Second Time Around''
Man, that blows. Ignorant drivers, man. I hate 'em. I would almost bet they're going to total it, though. But if you love the truck, buy it back and fix it anyhow. My '91 was totalled in '01, but I got it fixed.

Re: Project ''Second Time Around''
Wow, that's rough man. Good to hear you came out of it ok. Beter to post about a broken truck than a broken back.
