Excellent. You going to paint the grill area white? In fact, what colors you gonna shoot anyway?

This one I am thinking about a silver black two tone being separated by a red something or other.

Overhaulin did a old dodge truck with the basic idea and I really like the way it turned out. SO I was thinking black interior with red trim or red interior...

heres a sample of the truck form overhaulin

If I do not go this route, it will probably end up BRIGHT blue... like ford or corvette bright blue.

Your pic reminds me of a pic of me on my ski. :metal:

Well started the ole girl up, ran her around the block for the first time as well. :metal::metal:

Ill have to figure out how to upload my cell camera to here or grab the digital when I go and smog her today "fingers crossed" otherwise its a hundred dollar smog.

Changed the nasty nasty oil and ill run that oil for about hundred miles or so.

off to Tuckers GOD I HATE THAT PLACE. Going to try and find a license plate mount and light as well as new taillights. that way it is possibly drivable to get a vin inspection, licensed and registered pending smog....

Awesome brother. Is that Lake Mead? Looks like you guys get some crazy waves there. We have to get behind a big boat to find wakes big enough to jump.

The avatar is actually my oldest boy. He was supposed to be giving me a straight line shot for an ad to sell that jetski but he caught a couple of waves and it came out of the water. Looked pretty cool though so I kept it.

I have a couple of 01 GTX Lmiited's now so the GTS is gonna move on to the next family. I'll bet at least 50 different people have taken their turns on that GTS while I've had it and I've worn out a 2 person tube behind it.

This is one my new cruisers. Current last max mph reads 68! :D

awesome skis!!

Yes, Lake mead will get upwards of 10 foot swells at time... yes 10 feet. figure the honda ski is 10 foot long and you get the idea.

Anyways, come on out when the wind pics up we have areas that get HUGE waves

Re: Project NOT4SLE

Well I ran some errands today and grabbed some parts, changed the engine oil, changed the upper radiator hose which no matter what would leak a bit at the housing (found a pin hole in it I think), and got to doing some more work on her. never got the truck out as the parts I needed to go to vin check were not installed till today.

I purchased a new set of rear bumper brackets. When I bought a cab a few months ago the guy gave me a chrome bumper.

http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...3/IMG_0420.jpg

I bought the rear mounts and they are the exact same weight (on my shipping scale) as the ones on the truck and fit EXACTLY perfect.

http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...3/IMG_0413.jpg

http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...3/IMG_0414.jpg

http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...3/IMG_0415.jpg

http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...3/IMG_0416.jpg

i also purchased a license plate mount and light as well as some tail light and reverse lenses.

http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...3/IMG_0417.jpg

http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...3/IMG_0418.jpg

http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...3/IMG_0424.jpg

I had to stop installing the bumper as the chrome carriage bolts I had had a shoulder that was to tall after going through the bumper and the brakcets would not tighten down. Hopefully Tuckers will have those tomorrow when I run by.

http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...3/IMG_0421.jpg

I also installed the seat and seatbelts as well

http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...3/IMG_0422.jpg

When done I installed a new ignition bezel and switch. I had a problem which I thought was a solenoid or bad ground. Sometimes when cranking the motor it would just click and then crank. It ended up being recommended I replace the ignition switch and she fires right up now.
The bad was the interior on this truck was what I thought in great condition until the new bezel chrome looks ten times better then the cigarette lighter bezel

Tomorrow Ill be getting the correct carriage bolts for the bumper and getting it on. Then going to smog it and vin check, title, and register it.

Re: Project NOT4SLE

I think the reason the bolts wouldn't tighten is the bumper brackets are backwards. The pictures I've seen have them reversed from how you installed them. That might solve the problem w/out having to buy more bolts...

I got the problem solved today. Mounting it upu in a few and headed to try a 30 smog before the 100 smog.

I ended up needing new bolts anyways.

Is the thermostat housing leaking??.....If so, might want to buy thermostat housing at AutoZone....make sure it is the cast iron or aluminum one (don't buy those cheap chrome Mr. Gasket ones!!!).....then buy this Fel-pro prema-dry plus gasket....no sealer needed and it'll seal up that leak for good!!!

trip went well, I dealt with the owner who was very nice. I needed a few things and they worked for that. Knowledge is ok on what i needed but most internet junkies are usually more knowledgeable as it is all they do.

Smog sucked. passed on the high side and 5 times to many HC on idle 700PPM allowed and I was at 3500PPM... any ideas?

I had a small leak in the hose. i replaced the upper hose and the leak was fixed. now however I drove to smog and such and she is leaking out of the radiator now... GRRRR

Re: Project NOT4SLE

Well I failed smog but heres a few more pics of the parts I purchased installed. Allowed is 700PPM and I had 3500PPM. At idle. the high speed was perfect or good enough  I could drive across town to get it to pass but I should be able to get it in check.

Here I am trying to bend the bed out a little to fit the taillight lens. I know why they were not on when I got it. LOL

Well, take another crack at it with your idle jets adjusted to lean.

vegaschevy 10-12-2009 12:03 PM

Re: Project NOT4SLE

I adjusted the idle and timing a bit but have not had time to get back to the smog place yet. I have a 100 smog place I may be hitting up when I get back.

I am in Phoenix today and headed to MEsa later to meet up with Nate from Porterbuilt to pick up some more goodies for the truck. :metal::metal:

THen when I get home and have her registered I will be lowering the truck so I could double check wheel backspacing on my wheels and get them coming.

Ill take a few "spy" pics around Nates place to see what is being worked on ;)

Re: Project NOT4SLE

Just left Porterbuilt, PIcked up my suspension parts. If I had Camera cord I would show you all the nice shiney suspension stuff. LOL

Nate is a top notch super nice guy. In case anyone was wondering. He was very helpful on some questions I had and took time out of doing "simple stuff" like making a chassis for a nova from scratch.:lol:
