Very nice!

I think you and I will probably be at a show together showing our burbs in no time at all! Do you think you will be driving it by the time the 2011 Brothers truck show comes around?

Thanks. Ya I hope to be at Brothers this summer (early August?). I'm very optimistic I'll be driving it by then. Maybe not 100% complete (are we ever?), .....but 85% or 90% hopefully.

By the way, your burb is mighty clean too!

Maybe I'll be there, too. My burb is still in pretty much the condition it was in when I bought it, except for lowering and a new steering wheel.

BTW...Hows the progress on this project coming along? I'd like to check it out in person sometime.

Well, believe it or not I got the Burb back from the body shop in back March(1st pic). I've been slowly putting it back together. It's finally 90% road worthy and legal. Here it is at the Pep Boys parking lot. I'm going to have to back track a bit and document (pics) all the stuff I've done and got into this baby. Stay tuned.

Thanks for the compliments guys!

Tires are 285/75x16 BFG Mud KM2's, mounted on 16x7 Ford Van wheels powdercoated semi-gloss black, with restored 3/4 ton hupcaps. I am truly stoked on the wheel and tire combo!

Couple of tire picks in the garage tonight:

Here are some pics of the front suspension.

I ended up going with 73-87 Tuff Country 2" lift front springs (3 inches longer than 67-72). Installed a DIY4x front shackle hanger 3 inches rearward to fit them in, and then centered the axles with a 1 inch zero rate block and using the 1-1/2" offset. Also used a pair of Offroad Design shackles. With the Dana 60 front I would guestimate this all adds up to a 4" to 4-1/2" lift over stock. Front Spring plates are also DIY4x

Going with the 73-87 springs benefited me in a few ways:

1. By moving the shackle back it helped me clear the 2" primary Bog Block headers.

2. Much softer spring rate than 67-72, not such a harsh ride. Actually these spring are really soft in my opinion, so to help compensate for it I'm running Rancho 9000 adjustable shocks which allows me to tighten up the front end for street driving.

3. Last but not least, I originally had a set of 67-72 4" Tuff Country springs installed, and these along with my 6" lift rear springs would not let the Burb clear my 7' garage door. Can't be parking this baby outside!

Looking very nice. My 70 had about the same patches. May I ask if the wheel arches and front of the wheel wells were patch panels for Suburbans with the extra "indent" on the edge of the circumference? I just was not able to find suburban patch panels for the front of the wheel well?

If so where was the source?

Thanks

I used a repop shortbed bedside for the entire wheel arch area. I believe it has the lip you are refering to. Both sides of my burb wheel wells look exactly the same. Got it from the Truck Shop in Orange, CA. Hope this helps. Let me know if you want me to throw up some pics to help.

Boy, I thought my Burb was going to be decent looking with just gun metal primer sprayed on it. Didn't think I would need a nice paint job on it until I saw yours. That thing is beautiful! Great job! I bet you get a lot of head turns in it.

That is one sweet burb I just bought this one and want to repaint it and was planning an 8.1 swap with a d60 and 14b you have inspired me to keep it blue!

Wow!! Not sure how I missed the whole show here, but I'm glad I found it now. Very nice work!!

It has been awhile since your last post, is it safe to assume you are driving the wheels off of it now??

Man, I love your burb! Great job. I love the stance and wheel choice too. I'm going the same direction except white wheels on my Longhorn.
