Thanks dude.. I was gonna order Fatmat off of Ebay.. I have used it before and its a good product. But after reading with Tony said.. Screw that.. I will run to lowes just down from my house and save the money and waiting for 5 days.. Now if I could just find a good used high hump carpet kit for CHEAP!!!!

Ok.. So I real only have one thing left to do on my truck, (for now you know how that go's. Everything every gage every button everything works for now.) and that is to finish the interior. I am not going to paint the dash or mess with the patina of the inside.. What I want is quiet. I decided to take up the carpet and see what was underneath.

Yikes!!! I found nasty rotted home carpet padding.. Wood blocks around the shifter boot and worst of all RUST!! I know big shocker.. So now the process begins. I do not have welder that works right now.. So I am gonna try my hand at something else.. First off today I ripped up the carpet, took out the moldy padding than began to clean.

To my surprise it was not all the bad.. The usual spots had some holes and wear. Several small holes where some buckets were mounted in. I wire brushed the floor with my grinder got it blown and vacuumed out, then spayed some Rust-Mort on the bad areas. My neighbor is in the process of restoring his 68 fastback Stang, so why not barrow materials from him right? haha.

He patched a few holes in his floor by using fiberglass. Since I don't have major repairs I am gonna try it out.. and its free!! The drivers side is worse then I want to deal with but I am gonna cut up some scrap, bend and fit, rivet in to place then cover with fiberglass. The goal to to make it quiet and keep out any unwanted moisture. I am not trying to make it perfect. I keep it parked inside so this should be easy..

Tonight I will let the Rust-Mort do its thing and tomorrow I will do the metal work and fiberglass. Next step is to seal the floor then lay Peel-n-seal down for sound mat. I am cheap a$$ so I am going to go down to U-Pull-It and gonna take some jute patting out of a van or older car. Cut it to fit then lay my carpet back down.. Hopefully this will make it quieter, and more importantly it will make it much cleaner and safer for my new little baby girl on the way!! And its not costing me anything.. Budget is real tight ya know..

Ok.. Sorry its been a few days... The fiberglass and paint takes a few days to dry when its only 35 degrees in the garage... Ok after the rust-mort , I fiberglassed all the holes and old rust spots.. It turned out awesome. There is now way for moisture to get in. Then I laid down rubberized undercoating. It was cheap cause I had a few cans in the shop. Then I let it dry. Went to Lowe's to get the Peel and Seal.. No luck, they did not have it stock. And the guy was such a dick about trying to get it for me.. So I went home and ordered it on Wed night at 6pm and big shocker the store had it the next day at 9am.. Wish the employee would have just done his job.. I will never go to Lowes again except for peel and seal!!!!

After the rubber floor dried, I laid down the Peel and Seal. then laid down new Jute padding I got from my local upholstery shop. Then the old carpet when back down.. I really need new carpet but, cant spend the extra money right now.

And holy cow!!!, the cab it dead quiet, even with dual thrush welded mufflers that dump out underneath the bed.. I am really impressed with the Peel and Seal..

BIG THANKS TO JEFF, for pointing that out.. I would have spent twice or three times the money on Fatmat or Dynamat. I am going to use this product again in the future.. 2 rolls was just enough to do a big hump cab floor..

Cool man...looks good!!!! I have to pass the kudos on to Tony(LILRED66). Hes the one who mentioned it and I remembered because Ive seen Dynamat prices and they are expensive.

How was the peel-n-seal to work with???

It was super easy to work with.. I have worked with other brands in the past.. And the Peel and Seal was easier to work with.. I had the whole floor laid with the Peel and Seal in about 20 minutes.. Worked great!!!!

Ok, so its been a while since I have posted anything on this build. I have a 4 month old so bare with me. Here are some updates. Jack (chevytrucknut), who I now consider a good friend, brought me over the cab corner fillers since I have a stepside. They were bent every which way but, I was given a pat on the back and he said good luck and try these. I spent hours grinding them down and hammering out the old metal. I got them damn near strait. How do you like them? I left them raw steel to kinda go with the patina theme.

Also several of you have asked me how I got the rear tail lights in the step. Here are few pics. Some bent scrap metal to hold them in and few screws. I think the pictures are self explanatory. Let me know what you think.. THanks again Jack!!!

Oh yeah.. And I got some new white walls this week.. She deserved new rubber after being bagged and lowered more. I went with a 70 instead of a 75R series.. Fits a little better and gave me a half an inch or so

How's the Peel & Seal fairing after the summer months?

The one thing I've read about the differences between the various sound deadeners is the type of materials. I've heard of guys using this stuff but seem to recall it was intended for an exterior roofing type atmosphere & may have some 'fume' related issues in a closed cab when exposed to a little heat (which is a BIG concern in TX).

Scoti, Peel and Seal is holding strong. We went through the hottest summer in Portland I have ever seen, and its faring well. Nice and dead quite inside my cab. I have no fume issues or anything.
