Re: 1983 Chevy lwb slow build
Soon to come! Will be buying new heads, a bigger cam(thinking of going with a lunati voodoo this time), and a 3000 stall, then I'm going to get a 3.73 posi!
Part links: Heads: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/PAR-2169/ - not entirely sure that I'm going to get these but something around there. 64cc heads and around 185cc on the intake. Converter: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/HUP-GM30/ Cam: Can't find the link at the moment but it's the Lunati Voodoo 276/284, might even go with a roller setup if I can afford it. |
Re: 1983 Chevy lwb slow build
Well, it turns out that I'm going to have to end this build thread as I am going to be selling the truck soon. I am hoping to use the money to pay the down payment on a 4th generation z28 camaro and mod it a bit.

A change of plans, yet again lol. I'm going to keep the truck. Plans in the very near future: 2/4 or maybe 4/6 drop and a repaint of the truck. Going to go with the same color as it used to be.

Re: 1983 Chevy lwb slow build
Good choice! I had two Camaros and didn't like them. Go with the 4/6 drop.

Re: 1983 Chevy lwb slow build
Yeah, Flowmaster 10 Series makes you appreciate noise haha I just put some on my truck about a month ago, sounds beautiful headers just make it louder, awesome build you got going man!! Keep it up.
Definitely do the flowmaster 10 series if you want serious noise. I can barely tap the gas and it'll cause my car to chirps it's alarm its beautiful haha when they first go on there going to be stupid loud but as you drive and break them in. If you want to here mine go to my build you can hear them, but my idle was high that day so it sounds a little louder but when it mellows out its music to my ears. Re: 1983 Chevy lwb slow build
Sounds good... I heard you can get pulled over for this exhaust being too loud... ever have any issues like that?

Re: 1983 Chevy lwb slow build
Legally yes you can have I no, as long as your not trying to be a badass or anything most of the time cops won't screw with you, but there are some areas more strict than others too so that plays a part in it too

Got the flip kit done on the rear. Started tearing into the front and realized that I am going to have to replace some of the front suspension, will hopefully have the drop finished tomorrow! The flip kit dropped it a lot more than I thought it was going to. I put the stock shackles back on and even then it was pretty low. I didn't have to do a c-notch but I did cut off the bumpstops. Here are some pics.

Re: 1983 Chevy lwb slow build
The rear actually looks a lot lower than it does in the pics. Will have some more pics of the truck once the front is lowered. I may have to buy some drop coils for the front as well or else I might end up driving up a hill all day:lol:

Front end dropped! Still a bit lower in the back... Going to buy 2" drop springs and put them in soon... Should be at a 5/7 drop then I think. A little lower than I wanted but I actually kind of like how low the rear sits and want to go a bit lower in the front anyways. For some reason, after I put all of the front end back together the wheels weren't able to turn.... Anyone know why this might have happened? Decided to call it a night. My dad's going to get someone to come look at the brakes tomorrow. Here are some pics
