Here is the update for the day. I almost finished mounting the bags. I have to go to the parts house tomorrow and get straight valves, rather then the 90 degree ones, so I can run the line straight through the hole in the bottom of the frame and then they are complete. I also took a stab at some of the remaining patch work on the cab. I have to say, it is very frustrating welding such thin material but I eventually got it. I am taking the last extra pieces up to the powder coater tomorrow and that is probably going to be it before I leave for a week. Once I get back I will be able to bolt on the upper and lower a arms and the bed should be done at the body shop and I can give them the cab!! She is moving along slowly but surely:metal: |

Got a little work done today on the truck. Finished mounting the bags, got the brake lines sorted out and made all of the lines (first time). I also threw a gear in the rear end to see how it would clear the cross member. Worked out pretty sweet, the housing slopes straight down right where it would hit the crossmember. I just need to flare the ends of the brake lines and put all of my fittings in. I am going in tomorrow to work on making the track bar mount and that will be it before I head out for a week to go to CA.

Re: 72 Cheyenne Super First Project
That looks nice Graham....what gear ya gonna run??...Also, probably missed it earlier, but what drivetrain too??:D.....you probably know this, but I assume you'll protect your air lines so they don't rub the frame....

Re: 72 Cheyenne Super First Project
find some rubber hose that has a large enough inner diameter to fit around the outer diameter of the air line, cut it like 3-4" long, cut it length-wise to split it, then wrap it around the line where it may rub...maybe use ties to secure it in place

Re: 72 Cheyenne Super First Project

Here is the update as of today. My frame got moved into the garage and all of the body is at the body shop getting worked on. I got the rear end that I am gonna run, minus the gear, and I got my disk brakes :))))))) (alcon racing brakes off of a nationwide car!!) I am waiting on some parts to come in the mail so I can put the front suspension together and then the motor will be going in. Here are some pictures of the brakes, I'm kinda excited about them:metal:

Re: 72 Cheyenne Super First Project
Hey guys, I haven't update the forum for a while so I thought I would fill in everyone on the progress of the build. I moved off to school on August 18th and I have only been home once since. My truck has sadly been neglected and the last time I was home she was sitting in the garage covered in Christmas boxes and all of the other crap that gets thrown in the garage. The last time I was home, I went to the body shop and all of the body work was done and the truck was in primer. I paid them and depleted my savings account. I just talked to my dad on the phone today and he said that things are slow at the body shop so he is gonna have them paint the bottom of the bed, the inside, bottom and back of the cab, the firewall, and the front of the bed so we can bolt those onto the frame and not have to mess with that anymore. I am going home Friday so I can take some pictures of the progress. I should have the cab and bed on the frame Saturday night so keep posted for pictures.

Got the truck from the body shop yesterday. Some spots turned out really nice and some not so much but for the price that they charged me I can't really complain. I have been trying to get as much little stuff done to her as I can seeing that I am leaving to go back to school this evening. Here are some pics of my progress thus far.

Here are some pictures of my progress. I have been home on break from school and I have been out in the garage every single night till at least midnight working on this girl. I am getting pretty excited but I still have a lot of work to go. As far as the interior goes I need to get my seat covered and installed, the steering column figured out, glove box door and ash tray painted, and the dash installed. That's about it for the interior. The only thing I have done to the exterior is run the tail light wiring harness and clean up the master cylinder and brake booster. I have about a billion pictures so here you go picture junkies :sexy:
