Re: The Wagon and Pedal Car thread.

I got an idea in my head about a year ago for a wagon I wanted to build. This thread got me to start putting it together. I have fabbed up every part so far except the wheels and tires. It's not done yet and I won't show the whole thing until it is, but here's a teaser pic:

Here are some more pics of mine. The pic without the wood is before spindles. Just trying to see how it was going to look. The other two are as a roller with everything burned in. When I take it back apart for paint I will take pictures of the the frame I built. Also there is one satin red wheel and thats how they all will look when done. It has just a slight amount of rake to it. I wanted more but the nature of the tires does not allow it. The axle is welded at the lowest point possible on the spindles. I wasn't crazy about the rear wheels and tires because I thought they were to big untill I got the fronts on and It made it proportional, now I think it looks awesome.

Re: The Wagon and Pedal Car thread.

I got a couple rod ends I had ordered so I could finish up my suspension. I made a couple brackets and now I have a track bar that functions perfectly, and it's adjustable. I also swapped out the springs because I found some bigger ones at the swap meet last weekend. Now it won't bottom out the trailing arms to the frame.

I'm still working on the wagon box part.

Re: The Wagon and Pedal Car thread.

Not done yet, but I couldn't wait to share.

This is the bed for my "wagon". It's just roughed in at this point. I made it about 1/2 scale of a real shortbed, except narrower. The sides and rear panels are made with 3 layers of plywood. I just got the tailgate part roughed in tonight. Cutting that slot across it was the most challenging part of the build so far. The last parts to fab up are the wheel tubs. I haven't decided yet if I will shape them like the real ones or just make some round ones. I will blend in the contours and body lines with body filler, epoxy primer it all to seal it, then do the body work like a real truck. I plan on painting it to match my truck. The floor will be stained plywood with bed strips added (once I find a couple to cut up). If I find better wheels with slightly smaller tires later I will probably swap them. For now I think I will paint them with some chrome like paint I have and maybe try to add white lettering to the tires. I'm thinking about using a caster wheel under the front near where the handle will go. My wife has a craft paper cutter and I'll have her make me some lettering for the tailgate.

Here is some more progress on my wagon. All I have to do is thread the axle ends paint the frame and wheels, and polish the aluminum pieces going on it.

Yes, if you are talking to me. I think it will be around 40 to 50 pounds without the kid in it. I could be way off but it gets old putting it on the welding table and then taking it back off every time I work on it especially with the wood in the bed.

It is finished for this year. There will be modifications in the future. I would like to thank forum member SBORIS for giving me the wear strips for free including delivery from about an hour away while he was headed to work.

Bud, that turned out awesome. Love the color, and of coarse the strips "set it off"

Anyone know anything about this one? I rode the wheels off of it as a kid, and never have seen another one like it.

I think black hornet is the brand. they made chain driven tractors also. I see those pedal cars every so often at antique stores but they always want way too much for them.

Finished Lizzy's pedal stroller yesterday. Going to add a removable pole on the seat that I can stick an umbrella that I modified in for shade.

Thanks Graham

She finally got to use it this weekend at the Southeastern Truck Nationals. Here's a pic of my buddies that I saw at last years show and gave me the inspiration.
