Re: 69 K-10 Build for Dad
Dad came down this weekend, and my brother Dan came over to help, too.
Dan and Dad taking the front clip apart so we can get rid of the old core support. http://imageshack.com/a/img841/8893/00xk.jpg Cab is on! http://imageshack.com/a/img89/8896/v7li.jpg Got the new core support on, along with some of the AC stuff. http://imageshack.com/a/img849/1577/kucv.jpg Buttoned up some loose ends here http://imageshack.com/a/img829/1424/guqg.jpg Dan doing some wiring for the VHX dash http://imageshack.com/a/img513/1130/mu4j.jpg Contemplating the best way to tackle the disassembly. http://imageshack.com/a/img856/9373/seah.jpg Rolled it outside today and got some nice shots of it outside, since it's FINALLY starting to warm up here http://imageshack.com/a/img829/5601/bl0f.jpg http://imageshack.com/a/img46/8481/o392.jpg http://imageshack.com/a/img69/5461/kj4v.jpg http://imageshack.com/a/img716/2619/b8ll.jpg http://imageshack.com/a/img713/8285/isdf.jpg New carpet for it, from ACC. http://imageshack.com/a/img809/5997/gk72.jpg http://imageshack.com/a/img69/9990/xje6.jpg Vintage Air unit all installed and wired. http://imageshack.com/a/img534/9233/e9ki.jpg New core support, battery box, etc. http://imageshack.com/a/img856/7127/r6j0.jpg I also located where the 4x4 shifter needs to go, and cut the holes. Great progress. Your dad has to be getting itchy to go for a cruise.

Re: 69 K-10 Build for Dad
What kind of mileage are you expecting? I know the 2wds can do pretty well, but what about a lifted 67-72?

Re: 69 K-10 Build for Dad
Awesome progress! the interior and engine bay look great.

Re: 69 K-10 Build for Dad
Nice work on the truck. Looks great! I noticed in post 35 that you don't have a tailgate handle and it appears that you did not use the standard relocation kit, unless I just missed it. Care to divulge any secrets!

Been quite awhile since I posted an update...
Got the newer truck shifter installed. http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/640...0/820/8lfa.jpg And then the seats put in http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/640...0/856/dzsx.jpg I then welded bosses to the new aluminum radiator to mount the Dodge Intrepid electric fan to. http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/640...0/849/sf1w.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/640.../843/svmuq.jpg Fits nice http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/640...0/855/l7ue.jpg Random shot with my blazer in the background http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/640...0/841/7jcy.jpg AC and heater hoses finished up http://imageshack.com/a/img841/4683/r82ra.jpg ECM mounted http://imageshack.com/a/img853/1917/d9b0.jpg Slapped the fenders and hood on quick to get them off the floor. Still need to align everything http://imageshack.com/a/img822/2733/ye3wh.jpg Got everything outside of the shop for spring cleaning http://imageshack.com/a/img849/1823/i7o4.jpg Pulled the front diff cover to check everything out and change the oil http://imageshack.com/a/img853/469/3hi9.jpg Rebuilding the front hubs http://imageshack.com/a/img837/2913/lkv8.jpg New bearings, studs, rotors...the parts store gave me 2wd calipers so I still need to exchange them yet. http://imageshack.com/a/img820/5402/68ac.jpg |

Re: 69 K-10 Build for Dad
Well THAT was a pain in the azz...and I'm glad it's finally done.
Been poring over what to do about a fuel filler for months. Didn't really want to cut a hole externally in the bedside, but it needed to be fairly easy to get to. Here's what I ended up with... Decided to start with the inside fuel filler cover from a Blazer http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/640.../841/htdp7.jpg Then start cutting it up and get to work http://imageshack.com/a/img823/9649/rrz9l.jpg http://imageshack.com/a/img843/9459/hjzp0.jpg Found a nice vented boat filler neck with integrated cap, should work nicely. The only issue is that to get the angle of the neck right, the "GAS" reads upside down. I know that's going to drive my dad nuts....because it drives ME nuts....but it is what it is. http://imageshack.com/a/img823/6788/b91fp.jpg http://imageshack.com/a/img829/8674/0fug.jpg http://imageshack.com/a/img834/5787/tts2g.jpg http://imageshack.com/a/img823/4472/suuv.jpg I backpurged and TIG'd a stainless tube to allow for the flow to be as smooth as possible to the tank. It will also be durable, especially if it happens to come in contact with the bed supports that I plasma'd out. http://imageshack.com/a/img834/9895/kwxlk.jpg Finished product! http://imageshack.com/a/img837/7734/iwds4.jpg |
Re: 69 K-10 Build for Dad
Itll look right side up if you look over the side of the bed!
